SIXTH GRADE NEWS The sixth grade students recently completed a novel study with the book, My Louisiana Sky, by Kimberly Holt. With the grant I received from the Cook County Farm Bureau's Agriculture in the Classroom, students were able to delve into a realisticfiction story dealing with topics of growing-up, challenges of being different, life not always being greener on the other side, and dealing with death. Students also honed their reading skills by making a dodecahedron. Each side of the 12-sided polyhedron focused on a literary device, figurative language aspect, basic research, and agricultural aspect. After completing the novel, students used the ipads to create movie trailers, which can be viewed at https://goo.gl/7inrsh or on Youtube.com. I am grateful for the grant from the Farm Bureau and my students and I look forward to our continued partnership with the Agriculture in the Classroom program. Another activity the students have been enjoying is STEM time. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. At least three times a month, students are given a set of supplies and asked to design a specific item, using only those supplies. Our recent activities included catapults, breath cars, Can You Save Fred?, and penny bridges. These activities promote teamwork, thinking, organizing, planning, and design aspects in order to accomplish the task. The other advantage of STEM projects is that students discover that there are often several ways to reach the end goal, which equals life-skills. Our next STEM time will involve Goldberg machines, and I cannot wait for the finished projects. Visit www.stwilliamschool.org to see what is happening in our school. Office for Diocesan Priests Personnel Office Rev. Robert Heidenreich 312/534-5237 rheidenreich@archchicago. org Dear Parishioners of St. William Parish: As you may know Fr. Robert Lojek has been participating in an annual review of his ministry conducted by the Archdiocese: 360 Catholic Leadership review. By diocesan policy all active priests must participate in this approximately every 5 years. Part of the review is a Parish-wide survey in which as many as possible parishioners are invited to participate. It is a short survey, only 24 questions. The survey is also easily accessed by going to the Archdiocese s web page (Archchicago.org) and clicking on Departments on the upper left of the page, then scrolling to Ministerial Evaluation to access our web page. There, in the middle of the page, find 360 Catholic Leadership review for priests and click on your appropriate language. Finally, follow the instructions for anonymous participation. You may also access the Parish-wide survey by smart phone. 1. Jezus Dobry Pasterz. Spośród wielu określeń Pana Jezusa, w okresie wielkanocnym jest On chętnie nazywany Dobrym Pasterzem. To wszystko dotyczy mnie samego. Jezus chce być moim Pasterzem. Czy pozwalam, aby On mnie prowadził? Czy może wybieram innych pasterzy? 2. Należymy do Chrystusa. 3. Modlitwa o dobre i święte powołania. Dzisiaj bardziej niż kiedykolwiek potrzeba nam wielu dobrych pasterzy.
