Bitwy W arszawskiej 920 r. nr 3, 00-973 W arszawa, POLAND T achinidae is a parasitic family of Hies, developing w ithin different arthropods, m ainly within insects. Till now 470 tachinid species have been recorded in Poland (D r a b e r - M o ń k o 99). A tylostom a tricolor is a m em ber of Leskiini tribe, th a t is represented in the Polish fau n a by species belonging to 5 genera (D r a b e r -M o Nk o 99). A tylostom a is the 6-th of the genera recorded in Poland. In Palaearctic, one m ore species from Atylostom a genus is know n i.e. A. tow andensis (M a t s u m u r a, 96) from E ast Siberia, Far E ast and O riental Region (H e r t in g, D e l y - D r a s k o v it s 993). Atylostom a tricolor is a very rare eurosiberian species (Ts c h o r s n ig, H e r t in g 994) whose single specim ens have been found in m any p arts of E urasia. In Europe, Atylostom a tricolor occurs in A ustria, Belgium, Byelorussia, France, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sw itzerland and W estern R ussia (Luga n ear St. Petersburg). 202 C. Bystrowski The knowledge about the biology of th is species is very scant. Atylostom a tricolor develops within the caterpillars of Eurrypara hortulata L. (Lepidoptera: Pyralide) ( H e r t i n g 960 ) th a t feed on com m on nettle (Urtica dioica). A. tricolor h as one generation in a year: V I-V III ( T s c h o r s n i g, H e r t i n g 994 ). Fig. 2.
