27 SUPERBIO SUpport and PartnERship for the development of multiple sustainable and market ready value chains in the BIObased economy This project will build at least 10 new, cross-sectoral and cross border value chains, supporting at least 30 third party SMEs through providing innovation support services with a total value of New value chains will be built in the bio-based economy, an emerging economy with a large, but underexploited potential for new value chains. In short, the project (i) provides general and case specific open collaboration spaces for cross border and cross sectoral networking, coaching and advising, (ii) will validate ideas for new value chains, (iii) will help building new value chains and (iv) provide innovation support services that are essential elements for business planning and creating further leverage. Impact of this project on the consortium and the third party SMEs will be monitored and recommendations on the large-scale demonstrator approach will be reported to the EC. 27

28 STARBIO (under evaluation) STrategic Alliance of Regions for unlocking investments in the BIO based economy The main objective of STARBIO is to create and activate a standing European stakeholders platform of Regions, industries, private investors, representatives of rural and coastal communities, research centres and universities, relevant Bioeconomy consortia and associations and consumers associations, with the mission of facilitating the transfer of best practices in the biobased economy to Regions that have a still unexploited potential of valorising local available bioresources into profitable and sustainable value chains. Through the platform set-up and animation, STARBIO intends to build a favourable ecosystem for unlocking large scale investments in the Bioeconomy sector generating valuable opportunities for the revitalisation of local economies, the increase of knowledge, the improvement of life quality and the reduction of GHG emissions. 28

29 TEAMING (second stage of the competition) One step closer to International Centre for Research on Innovative Bio-Based Materials (acronym: ICRI- BioM) in Lodz. The European Commission announced the results of Stage 1 of the Teaming Call concerning the establishment of Centers of Excellence. The action is part of Horizon eligible member states submitted 169 proposals for the Call. Three projects from Poland successfully made it to Stage 2, the International Centre for Research on Innovative Bio-based Materials among them. 29

31 ICRI-BioM The aim of this project is to establish a new centre of excellence in the Lodzkie Region, Poland, by creative and collaborative efforts, i.e. TEAMING with Max Planck Society (MPS), Germany, as the internationally leading institution. 31

32 ICRI-BioM The ICRI-BioM will focus on design, synthesis, characterization and practical applications of advanced materials, exemplified by biomaterials, bio-products, and multifunctional smart polymer systems. Professor Krzysztof Matyjaszewski involved in the project will chair the first International Scientific Advisory Board. 33 International Research Agendas (IRA) - ICRI-BioM The Kliknij, International aby edytować Research style wzorca Agendas tekstu (IRA) project is inspired by the Teaming for Excellence programme announced by the EC within the Horizon 2020 programme and is a parallel competition path for applicants planning to use funds from the programme to support implementation of projects that have received funding in phase one of the first Teaming for Excellence. Application for IRA, under development, is prepared by all partners of ICRI- BioM under leadership of Professor Janusz Bujnicki, who is interested in becoming IRA Project Manager. Final decision of the three stage procedure should be known in April/May

35 Lodz Scientific and Technological Park ICRI-BioM will have its premises in TECHNOPARK Lodz University of Technology is one of the organizers of the Lodz Scientific and Technological Park (Technopark Lodz). At the BioNanoPark building on the premises of the Technopark, the construction of the Analyzer of Real Complex Systems - a unique digital simulator of chemical processes, is coming to completion. Lodz University of Technology is the originator of the concept of the machine design and operation. 35

38 Knowledge Exchange Platform Thematic Seminar Wnioski The most important issues in the implementation of the "Bioeconomy" should be: 1) For smart specialization within bioeconomy program determination of the priorities and research projects consistent with the objectives of the State policy 2) Consideration of the "Bioeconomy program priorities in the strategic programs for research and development of the National Centre for Research and Development 3) Development of a system for effective coordination of the scientific and research facilities as well as coordination of research in designated areas of research. 38
