4 Dear Parishioners and Friends of our Parish! From all of us here at St. John Paul II Parish, Priests and our entire staff, we pray for you and your families and loved ones, a blessed and hope-filled Easter. With heartfelt gratitude, I also thank the veritable holy army of musicians, ushers, greeters, decorators, Eucharistic ministers. Lectors, to everyone who is helping us with altar linens, altar servers, hospital ministry, religious educators and our staff of workers for their dedicated and loving service to our parish. We are indeed blessed with such selfless and loving followers of Christ. Easter brings so many promises of God to us, life is stronger than death, love can overcome hate, goodness ultimately triumphs over evil and eternity and glory with God in Heaven are our destiny. I pray that Jesus may live in all our heats, that we may always embrace Him with love and gratitude. May His love and His peace fill our hearts, our lives, our homes and our families. Pawel SDS Pasqua - 16 aprile La Pasqua è la solennità cristiana che celebra la risurrezione di Gesù, con l'instaurazione della Nuova alleanza e l'avvento del Regno di Dio. Dal punto di vista teologico, la Pasqua odierna racchiude in sé tutto il mistero cristiano: con la passione, Cristo si è immolato per l'uomo, liberandolo dal peccato originale e riscattando la sua natura ormai corrotta, permettendogli quindi di passare dai vizi alla virtù; con la risurrezione ha vinto sul mondo e sulla morte, mostrando all'uomo il proprio destino, cioè la risurrezione nel giorno finale, ma anche il risveglio alla vera vita. La Pasqua si completa con l'attesa della Parusia, la seconda venuta, che porterà a compimento le Scritture. Il cristianesimo ha ripreso i significati della Pasqua ebraica nella Pasqua cristiana, seppur con significativi cambiamenti, che le hanno dato un volto nuovo. Le sacre Scritture hanno infatti un ruolo centrale negli eventi pasquali: Gesù, secondo quanto è stato tramandato nei Vangeli, è morto in croce nel venerdì precedente la festa ebraica, che quell'anno cadeva di sabato, ed è risorto il giorno successivo, in seguito chiamato Domenica (fonte "dominus") da cristiani e cattolici. Inoltre, questo evento venne visto dai primi cristiani come la realizzazione di quanto era stato profetizzato sul Messia. Questo concetto viene ribadito più volte sia nella narrazione della Passione, nella quale i quattro evangelisti fanno continui riferimenti all'antico Testamento, sia negli altri libri del Nuovo Testamento, come nella prima lettera ai Corinzi, dove Paolo scrive:«cristo morì per i nostri peccati secondo le Scritture, fu sepolto ed è resuscitato il terzo giorno secondo le Scritture.» L'accento si pone dunque sull'adempimento delle sacre Scritture, per cui i giudeocristiani, pur continuando a festeggiare la Pasqua ebraica, dovettero immediatamente spogliarla del significato di attesa messianica, per rivestirla di nuovo significato, cioè il ricordo della Passione e risurrezione. Il passaggio sembra essere chiaramente avvertito già da Paolo, quando, nella prima lettera ai Corinzi, scrive: «Togliete via il lievito vecchio, per essere pasta nuova, poiché siete azzimi. E infatti Cristo, nostra Pasqua, è stato immolato! Celebriamo dunque la festa non con il lievito vecchio, ma con azzimi di sincerità e verità» Il rapporto con la festa ebraica è rimasto nelle letture liturgiche del Sabato Santo che sono proprio quelle della Pesach, ma la festa più importante, la vera Pasqua cristiana è il giorno successivo in cui gli ebrei celebrano l'offerta del primo covone d'orzo e i cristiani la risurrezione di Gesù, il primo esponente della "messe" cristiana. Il fatto che Gesù sia risorto nel primo giorno della settimana ebraica sembrò doppiamente simbolico: in questo giorno Dio aveva creato l'universo e ora nello stesso giorno aveva inizio una nuova creazione. Alla Pasqua settimanale, la domenica, si aggiunse quindi anche la Pasqua annuale, il giorno più importante dell'anno, celebrato dai discepoli con la consapevolezza sempre più forte di aver istituito una festa nuova con nuovi significati: è un evento straordinario, dove il bene trionfa sul male grazie a Gesù che, morto crocifisso, risorge infine dai morti.

5 ZWYCZAJE WIELKA- NOCNE DAWNE I WSPÓŁCZESNE The Divine Mercy Novena begins on Good Friday and goes until Divine Mercy Saturday. The Divine Mercy novena prayers were given to St. Faustina through an apparition of our Lord Jesus. Each day has a new petition that seeks God s mercy for different purposes. The message of Divine Mercy is a powerful and moving way to come closer to Christ. His Mercy is central to our lives and we must continually depend on it and ask for it daily. How to Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet? Here are the steps of how to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet: Step 1 Using a regular set of Rosary beads, you begin at the cross by doing the sign of the cross. (Optional Opening Prayer) You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. (Repeat three times) O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You! Step 2 On the three beads of the rosary pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Apostles Creed. Step 3 You begin each decade with the Our Father beads by praying this prayer: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. Step 4 Complete the decade on the 10 Hail Mary beads by praying this prayer: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each decade on the rosary beads Step 5 Once you have prayed all 5 decades, you finish the Chaplet by praying the following prayer 3 times: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Optional Closing Prayer) Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen. This Chaplet is a very powerful prayer. It can be prayed at any time, but it is often prayed within the context of the Divine Mercy Novena. Ten radosny czas obfituje w wiele zwyczajów. Większość z nich znane jest od średniowiecza i praktykowane do dziś. Niedziela Palmowa - symbolizuje przybycie Jezusa Chrystusa do Jerozolimy. Rozpoczyna Wielki Tydzień. Kiedyś w Polsce nazywa Wierzbną, ponieważ gałązki wierzby zastępowały palmy. Pogrzeb żuru i śledzia w dawnych czasach okres postu był bardzo ściśle przestrzegany, ograniczano wtedy spożywanie praktycznie wszystkie, mięsa, cukru nawet nabiału. Jedzono praktycznie tylko żur i śledzie. Dlatego w Wielki Piątek z radości ku końcowi postu, urządzano tzw. pogrzeb żuru i śledzia. Wszyscy mieszkańcy wsi z okrzykami radości zakopywali w przygotowanym dole znudzone pożywienie, z którym rozstawali się na cały rok. W niektórych regionach Polski zasypywano dodatkowo garnek z popiołem, który symbolizował koniec smutku i nadejścia radości. Topienie Judasza w Wielką Środę młodzież topi słomianą kukłę, symbolizującą Judasza. Choć zwartość koszyczka różni się w zależności od regionu, to w każdym nie może zabraknąć: jajka, baranka, soli chleba, kiełbasy i chrzanu. Pisanki Pochodzenie tradycji malowania pisanek nie jest do końca znane. Każdy kolory symbolizuje coś innego. Fioletowy i niebieski oznacza Wielki Post, czerwony to przelana na krzyżu krew Chrystusa, zielona, brązowa i żółta wyrażają radość. W naturalny sposób jajka można zafarbować gotując je w łupinach cebuli, kwiatach malwy lub kory dębu. Śmigus Dyngus czyli lany poniedziałek - zwyczaj symbolizujący budzenie się przyrody do życia oraz oczyszczenie z zimowego brudu. Przepowiednia mówi, że im mocniej oblana panna, tym większe szanse na szybkie zamążpójście. Zajączek zabawa wielkanocna - po świątecznym śniadaniu, wszyscy zebrani chodzą po domu i szukają ukrytych upominków
