The money helps us to decorate our beautiful church in the glory of Christ s Resurrection. Archdiocesan Annual Appeal Your gift to the Archbishop s Annual Appeal is a part of your personal commitment to Christian Stewardship: Giving thanks to God by returning a portion of the blessings God has given you. The Bayonne Pulaski Parade Memorial Committee is happy to announce that Kenneth Kopacz has been selected as the 2018 Marshal of the Bayonne Contingent for the 81st annual Pulaski Day Parade. We thank everyone who attended our fund raisers an contributed to our Society. 4 SPRING FROLIC The members of the Friends of St. Francis Organization extend an invitation to our community to attend their annual dinner party on April 7, 2018 in the St. John Paul II Mt. Carmel Parish Center at 6:00 p.m. The event will benefit the Felician Sister Mission an the Bayonne Food Pantries at four parishes. The fundriser will feature a hot buffet, dessesrts, refreshments, entertainment, raffles and prizes. Tickets are $25 for adult and $10 for youth. For reservation contact Cindy Macon or Evelyn Magarban "What is Palm Sunday?" Palm Sunday is the day we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, one week before His resurrection. As Jesus entered the holy city, He neared the culmination of a long journey toward Golgotha. He had come to save the lost, and now was the time this was the place to secure that salvation. Palm Sunday marked the start of what is often called Passion Week, the final seven days of Jesus earthly ministry. Palm Sunday was the beginning of the end of Jesus work on earth. Even as the coatless multitudes waved the palm branches and shouted for joy, they missed the true reason for Jesus presence. They could neither see nor understand the cross. That s why, as [Jesus] approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God s coming to you. It is a tragic thing to see the Savior but not recognize Him for who He is. The crowds who were crying out Hosanna! on Palm Sunday were crying out Crucify Him! later that week. 5 Szósta niedziela Wielkiego Postu nazywana jest Niedzielą Palmową, czyli Męki Pańskiej, i rozpoczyna obchody Wielkiego Tygodnia. W ciągu wieków otrzymywała różne określenia: Dominica in palmis, Hebdomada VI die Dominica, Dominica indulgentiae, Dominica Hosanna, Mała Pascha, Dominica in autentica. Niemniej, była zawsze niedzielą przygotowującą do Paschy Pana. Liturgia Kościoła wspomina tego dnia uroczysty wjazd Pana Jezusa do Jerozolimy, o którym mówią wszyscy czterej Ewangeliści, a także rozważa Jego Mękę. Dzisiaj odnowiona liturgia zaleca, aby wierni w Niedzielę Męki Pańskiej zgromadzili się przed kościołem, gdzie powinno odbyć się poświęcenie palm, odczytanie perykopy ewangelicznej o wjeździe Pana Jezusa do Jerozolimy i uroczysta procesja do kościoła. Podczas każdej Mszy św., zgodnie z wielowiekową tradycją czyta się opis Męki Pańskiej (według relacji Mateusza, Marka lub Łukasza - Ewangelię św. Jana odczytuje się w Wielki Piątek). W Polsce istniał kiedyś zwyczaj, że kapłan idący na czele procesji trzykrotnie pukał do zamkniętych drzwi kościoła, aż mu otworzono. Miało to symbolizować, iż Męka Zbawiciela na krzyżu otwarła nam bramy nieba. Niedziela Palmowa, czyli Męki Pańskiej, wprowadza nas coraz bardziej w nastrój Świąt Paschalnych. Kościół zachęca, aby nie ograniczać się tylko do radosnego wymachiwania palmami i krzyku: " Hosanna Synowi Dawidowemu!", ale wskazuje drogę jeszcze dalszą - ku Wieczernikowi, gdzie "chleb z nieba zstąpił". Potem wprowadza w ciemny ogród Getsemani, pozwala odczuć dramat Jezusa uwięzionego i opuszczonego, daje zasmakować Jego cierpienie w pretorium Piłata i odrzucenie przez człowieka. Wreszcie zachęca, aby pójść dalej, aż na sam szczyt Golgoty i wytrwać do końca. Chrześcijanin nie może obojętnie przejść wobec wiszącego na krzyżu Chrystusa, musi zostać do końca, aż się wszystko wypełni... Musi potem pomóc zdjąć Go z krzyża i mieć odwagę spojrzeć w oczy Matce trzymającej na rękach ciało Syna, by na końcu wreszcie zatoczyć ciężki kamień na Grób. A potem już tylko pozostaje mu czekać na tę Wielką Noc... To właśnie daje nam Wielki Tydzień, rozpoczynający się Niedzielą Palmową. Wejdźmy zatem uczciwie w Misterium naszego Pana Jezusa Chrystusa... Confessione Quaresimale Mercoledì 28 Marzo dalle ore 7:00-8:30PM Nella chiesa della Nostra Signora del Monte Carmello. Ci sarà possibilità di confessarsi in Italiano, Inglese e Polacco. Vieni a preparare la tua anima per le feste di Pasqua. La Settimana Santa è la settimana nella quale si celebrano gli eventi di Fede correlati agli ultimi giorni di Gesù, comprendenti in particolare la sua Passione, Morte e Risurrezione. Inizia con la Domenica delle Palme, e culmina nella celebrazione della Pasqua. Il solenne Triduo Pasquale della Passione, Morte e Risurrezione di Cristo viene aperto con la Messa nella Cena del Signore, nella quale si ricorda l'ultima Cena di Gesù, la istituzione dell'eucarestia e del Sacerdozio ministeriale, e si ripete il gesto simbolico della Lavanda dei piedi effettuato da Cristo nell'ultima Cena. Al termine l'eucaristia viene riposta nell'altare della Reposizione, davanti al quale i fedeli permangono in adorazione. Il Venerdì Santo è il giorno della morte di Gesù sulla Croce. La Chiesa celebra verso le tre del pomeriggio la solenne celebrazione della Passione, divisa in tre parti: La Liturgia della Parola, con la lettura del quarto canto del servo del Signore, dell'inno cristologico della lettera ai Filippesi e della Passione secondo Giovanni. L'Adorazione della Croce. La santa Comunione con i presantificati. Il Sabato Santo è tradizionalmente giorno senza liturgia: non si celebra l'eucaristia, e la Comunione ai malati si porta solamente ai malati in punto di morte. Nella notte si celebra la solenne Veglia Pasquale, che è la celebrazione più importante di tutto l'anno Liturgico. In essa: Si celebra la Resurrezione di Cristo attraverso la liturgia del fuoco: al fuoco nuovo si accende il cero pasquale, che viene portato processionalmente in chiesa. La liturgia della Parola ripercorre con sette letture dell'antico Testamento gli eventi principali della storia della salvezza, dalla Creazione del mondo, passando attraverso la liberazione del popolo d'israele dalla schiavitù d'egitto, fino alla promessa della Nuova Alleanza. L'Epistola proclama la vita nuova in Cristo risorto, e nel Vangelo si legge il racconto dell'apparizione degli Angeli alle Pie donne la mattina di Pasqua. Segue la liturgia battesimale, nella quale tutti i fedeli rinnovano le promesse del proprio battesimo, e vengono battezzati, se ce ne sono, i catecumeniche si sono preparati al Sacramento. La Liturgia Eucaristica si svolge come in tutte le Messe. I riti della Settimana Santa sono celebrati con solennità e allo stesso modo in tutte le chiese del mondo cristiano.
