3 My Dear Parishioners! From the Pastor s Desk Today we continue the Annual Catholic Appeal After the Gospel reading, which talks about Jesus curing Peter s mother-in-law, we will listen to the speech from Cardinal Blase Cupich. Then, our ushers will distribute special financial commitment envelopes. Once filled up, they may be returned the same day or next Sunday during our regular collection. I ask you for the gift of constant prayers in the intention of the annual Catholic appeal and with great humility I ask you for your generosity. This year, the Archdiocese s goal for our parish is $53, I believe and I hope that this year we will not only achieve our goal, but perhaps we will go over it! May God richly bless you and your families for your zeal, goodness and generosity! Two weeks ago I informed you that I was looking for donations for the purchase of two new HD TVs for Rogers Hall. Today I would like to thank from all my heart those who made donations toward the TVs. Our donors want to remain anonymous. Therefore, I embrace them with prayer of gratitude for their concern for our parish! These two new HDTVs are already installed. Today I invite you to purchase the best cream pies in world! They were prepared by our parishioner, Mrs. Marie Shipman. Profit from the cream pie sale will help us further beautify God s church. Sunday February 11 th ( in celebration of Fat Tuesday) our parish "Pro-Life" group members will sell Paczki (poonchkey). Please save the dates for our Lenten Fish Fry s Fridays. Full menu flyers are available in the back of the church. Next week I will give you more information about our Ash Wednesday and Lenten services in our parish. Through the intercession of St. Albert the Great, may God s blessings accompany all parishioners, guests and our daily work throughout the entire week. Jesus I Trust in You! Fr. Mariusz TIRELESS DISCIPLESHIP The stories we ve been hearing these weeks come from the very first chapter of Mark, and they show us the public ministry of Jesus in its infancy. Today s account shows some of the strain or adjustment of his new life of preaching the reign of God, healing the sick, and casting out demons. Notice that after sunset, when darkness ended the workday, people brought the sick and possessed to Jesus. The following day he rose before dawn to get away by himself to pray, but to no avail. Simon Peter and the others don t just look for him, they pursue him, filled with the fervor that his ministry has incited. With the self-sacrificing example he gave until the end of his earthly life, he tells his followers that this is his whole purpose. Through Mark, he is also telling the early church, and he is telling us, that this is our purpose, our vocation: to be tireless in our pursuit of proclaiming the Good News, and in bringing the healing, reconciling touch of Christ to the world. Please remember that the Annual Catholic Appeal is much different than a one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gift payable in installments. The ACA theme, Come, Follow Me was selected to remind us to continue to answer Jesus call to follow Him in thought, word and deed by providing the necessary contribution to fund ministries and services to share God s love with many others in our Parish and our Archdiocese. On Sunday, January 28 th, 2018 at Holy Name Cathedral St. Albert the Great Boy Scout Troop 481 and Cub Scout Pack 3481 received the National Catholic Unit Executive Award Gold Level. Also congratulations to 3 of our Boy Scouts: Andrew Komperda, Ryan Kirchman, and Matt Zdebski, they received the Ad Altare Dei (To the Altar of God) medal which was presented to by the Most Reverend Joseph N. To już dziś kontynuujemy Doroczną Kwestę Katolicką Po odczytaniu dzisiejszej Ewangelii mówiącej o uzdrowieniu teściowej Piotra wysłuchamy słów ks. kardynała Błażeja Cupich i rozdamy wam specjalne zobowiązania finansowe (kopertki), które czy to od razu dziś czy też za tydzień (w niedzielę 11 lutego) będziemy mogli złożyć w czasie niedzielnej regularnej kolekty. Proszę Was bardzo o dar nieustannej modlitwy w intencji Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej oraz z wielką pokorą proszę Was o hojność na jej rzecz. W tym roku Archidiecezja Chicago wyznaczyła nam cel zebrania w ciągu roku 53, $. Wierzę i ufam, że i w tym roku nasz cel zostanie nie tylko osiągnięty, ale być może nawet go przekroczymy! Niech Dobry Bóg obficie Wam i Waszym Rodzinom błogosławi za okazaną przez Was gorliwość, dobroć i hojność! Dwa tygodnie temu informowałem was, że poszukuję donacji na zakup dwóch nowych telewizorów HD do naszej odnowionej sali pod kościołem (Rogers Hall). Dziś pragnę z serca podziękować tym, którzy na ten cel złożyli dar materialny. Nasi darczyńcy pragną pozostać anonimowi. Naszych anonimowych dobroczyńców ogarniam życzliwą modlitwą wdzięczności za kolejne wyświadczone naszej parafii dobro! Te dwa nowe telewizory HD są już zainstalowane na dole w sali. Zchęcam was dziś, abyście po Mszy Świętej zakupili nasze najlepsze na świecie kremówki p. Marii Shipman (Albertynki). Zysk ze sprzedaży kremówek pomoże nam w realizacji planowanych prac związanych z upiększeniem wnętrza naszej świątyni. Za tydzień w niedzielę 11 lutego nasza parafialna grupa Pro-Life sprzedawać będzie pączki z okazji tzw. Ostatków. Pamiętajmy także o zbliżających się obiadach rybnych Fish Fry Fridays w okresie Wielkiego Postu (specjalne kartki informujące o obiadach rybnych możemy zabrać z kościoła do naszych domów). W przyszłym tygodniu podam wam więcej informacji na temat nabożeństw Środy Popielcowej oraz nabożeństw pasyjnych w okresie Wielkiego Postu. Prosimy, abyście pamiętali, że Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka jest czymś zupełnie innym niż jednorazową specjalną kolektą. Jest to kampania, podczas której składane są zobowiązania finansowe, które mogą być spłacane w ratach. Hasło tegorocznej Kwesty Pójdź za mną, zostało wybrane, aby przypomnieć nam, że musimy wciąż odpowiadać na wezwanie Jezusa, by iść za Nim w myślach, słowach i czynach przez partycypowanie finasowanie duszpasterstw i posług, by dzielić się miłością Boga z innymi w naszej parafii i Archidiecezji. Każde zobowiązanie ma duże znaczenie, ponieważ wszystkie parafie uczestniczą w kampanii i to dzięki darom złożonym przez wiele osób Archidiecezja może zapewniać wiernym potrzebne posługi i dzieła duszpasterskie.
