Mom, we miss you. Pray for us. 3-30-09 Mark, Marianne, Michael, Lisa WHEN WE EAT THIS BREAD AND DRINK THIS CUP, WE PROCLAIM YOUR DEATH, O LORD, UNTIL YOU COME AGAIN! Does that heading ring a bell? Well, for the past five weeks we ve been singing it as our memorial acclamation after the words of consecration. Well, we ve been trying.and we should get used to it. This will also be the acclamation we use throughout the upcoming Easter season. Gone is the phrase Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again forever (or at least until someone in the Vatican decides it was really a bad idea to eliminate it.which can happen) Yes, it will take us another year or more to get used to all these new translations. The choir is certainly aware of this as it struggles with the new translation of the Exsultet as well as other Holy Week chants. Oh well, take a deep breath and move ahead. In a few years we will wonder what all the fuss was about. In the meantime, PLEASE try to join in the singing and responses during our liturgies. Those lovely lavender liturgy aids with all the pretty notes on them are not just Lenten decorations. Make them your friends! Embrace them! Digest them! Pretend they are chocolate Easter bunnies! Just don t ignore them. Inaczej mówiąc: Tłumy nie miały do wyboru pomiędzy kimś o nieposzlakowanej opinii z jednej strony (białym charakterem) i zbrodniarzem z drugiej strony (czarnym charakterem). Jeżeli Go tak pozostawimy, to wszyscy uwierzą w Niego, i przyjdą Rzymianie, i zniszczą nasze miejsce święte i nasz naród». (J 11:46-48 BT) Podobnie jak faryzeusze i arcykapłani, tłumy wybrały Barabasza z przyczyn polityczno-religijnych: Kochali swoją ojczyznę, pragnęli jej wolności, kochali świątynię i pragnęli jej zachowania. Przykazaniu temu towarzyszy obietnica: A będziesz długo żył. Placyd

STANISLAUS PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL Minutes from meeting of Tuesday, February 21, 2011 Opening The meeting began at 7:00pm with a reflection by Alice Klafczynski. In attendance were Christy Bartley, Karen Grabel, Frank Greczanik, Sue Halamek, Alice Klafczynski, Jim Sikora, Sylwia Sobolewski, Ron Zeszut, Matt Zielenski, Fr. Bob Konopa, Fr. Len Stunek, Brother Justin, Deb Martin (School Prinicipal). David Krakowski (Liturgical Director) was absent. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the January meeting were approved as submitted. A summary of minutes will be published in the back of the church. A question was noted that the parish guidelines were to be updated per New Diocesan Guidelines. Sue Halamek will inquire on status with the Diocesan office and current parish guidelines will be sent to all PPC members. Reports Grade School-The committee report was submitted by Deb Martin, School Principal. The eligibility card process, which is attitude and commitment based, for the basketball team has been very successful. All schools must participate in a process where an external validation team agrees with a school s 6-year plan. St. Stanislaus received very positive feedback and the finalized report will be submitted to the OCSAA in Columbus by the end of the month. Liturgy-The committee report was submitted by David Krakowski. No specific comments by PPC. Evangelization- The committee report was submitted by Sue Halamek. It was the consensus of PPC that the school is an integral part of the parish and that the parish does support the school when there is a need. As a first step to educate the parish about the school, a section of the parish bulletin will be dedicated to the school to highlight needs and activities which can include a particular student or grade. Matt Zielinski will provide Mrs. Martin a Street Card as a reference to various resources/agencies in the area that can provide assistance to the particular needs of students and their families when necessary. Finance Council- The committee report was submitted by Matt Zielenski. Stewardship- The committee report was submitted by Ron Zeszut. Organization leaders will be receiving a list of names of interested parishioners this weekend. The committee is requesting that the organizations provide the follow up. Holy Name-A kickoff is planned for the first week of March. This will be a smaller group to provide the framework for the organization. There was discussion that younger parishioners may not be familiar with HNS and its purpose. The call for membership will educate parishioners which addresses this concern. This may be an opportunity to reach out to the Lil Bros club and have them involved, especially during this transitional period.
Pastors Update The chimney work is still in process. SHJ Statue Karen Grabel will work to solicit donations from former SHJ parishioners. Goal is to have the statue reside in Nazareth Park. Golden Agers Celeste and Fr. Bob are actively working with the group. Council Discussion Points Goals: The 2011/2012 goals were reviewed with PPC. Progress is on track. More work is needed with the leadership of the Polish Community. Transition to a new pastor PPC Committee Discussion: Fr. Bob is here until 6/30. There was a joint PPC and PFC meeting on 2/12. Celeste Suchocki will draft a letter to Bishop Lennon based upon the feedback from the meeting. The letter will be sent to PPC and PFC for comment. Diocesan Capital Campaign-PPC is concerned that time is short to adequately prepare for this campaign (December) considering planning needs to be coordinated with the new leadership of the parish beginning in July. There was discussion on asking for an extension of the campaign to later in 2013. Old Business Parish Website Per Ron Zezsut s discussion with Betty Dabrowski, there are 2 individuals interested in this role. Anticipating a decision by the next PPC meeting. A link is needed to school website from the parish website. Also, a shortcut to facebook is needed. Closed Parishes-No additional feedback from the Diocesan Office that was has already been shared with PPC. Parish Directory The companies are not providing timely feedback to Christy Bartley. There may have been a merger of the primary two companies providing this service (Olan Mills/Life Touch). Christy will keep following up and hopefully have more details at the next meeting. PPC is in favor of this idea. New Business PPC Elections-Sue Halamek provided PPC a schedule of events. May 5/6 will be election weekend. May 15 th will be the final PPC meeting of the 2011-2012 year. This meeting will include current and new members. PPC members should submit possible candidates to Sue Halamek. Health and Human Services-Sue Halamek was approached from a parishioner on way to voice our opinion on current political issue of contraception in the health care laws. There was discussion on providing a form letter that parishioners could sign and send to Senators. Sue will follow up with the Diocese for guidance on the issue and direction to parishes on a response. Parishioner Transportation- There was discussion on a general request for volunteers, community services such as Provide A Ride, etc. There was mention of a previous discussion at a PPC meeting and noted that guidance to PPC from the pastor was that there were significant concerns to consider regarding this as a provided service from the parish. Discussion resulted in consensus that the request would be published in the bulletin and if anyone would want to volunteer, the parish office can be contacted to assist in coordination. Parish Audit-Due to the change in pastors, a parish audit is required by the Diocese. Dan Kane has provided all required information. No issues are expected. Hospitality Sunday-This event has been missed and was successful. The parish picnic will be held on August 12 th. Public Comments There were no public comments. Closing Prayer and Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 9:02pm. Motion made by Matt and seconded by Alice. Upcoming Events: 5/4 Four Eagle Dinner Respectfully submitted, Karen Grabel Karen Grabel Recording Secretary
MARCH 25 MARCA 2012 A TRIP THROUGH CALVARY By Isaiah Pope I am a guard at the foot of the cross. I look up into the face of Jesus. I think Why does this need to happen to this person? He has done nothing but good. He certainly doesn t deserve to be beaten and crucified. Thieves and wicked men deserve this, not Him. I am Peter and I have just denied Him three times. I feel...like a coward. I am afraid because I have just betrayed my best friend and Savior. I can only imagine what He thinks of me for this. I hope He is generous enough to forgive me. I am Simon. I was pulled from the crowd to help Jesus carry the cross. I wonder how and why this man deserved to take such a thrashing. What did He do so wrong? He healed the sick. Preaching and healing doesn t seem like such a crime. In fact, He should be praised for His acts of kindness. I was serving food to Jesus and His friends at the Last Supper. I am thinking...this is a great man who sits before me. He says He will be given up for us. This sounds kind of unfamiliar, I wonder what He means. If He is the Savior, and He is sacrificing Himself...Wow! That takes a lot of strength. (although not a competition, this piece of writing by 7th grader Isaiah Pope, is surely a winner!) Pictured above are Four Eagle Invitation stuffers Marie Bobowski and Liz Cymanski in the midst of a short break fighting over who gets to befriend the annoying orange. Four Eagles Dinner Friday, May 4, 2012 All are welcome all are welcome all are welcome to come to the Social Center on Friday, May 4 starting at 6:00 p.m. This year we are honoring the generosity of Mrs. Katherine Geis and her son, Fred Geis, who have contributed to the future of our parish through a special donor advised fund at the Cleveland Foundation. Join us as we honor these wonderful people with great hor d ouevres, entrees and desserts prepared family style by Chef Rick Sklodowski. These funds support the continued advancement of the spiritual, educational and cultural mission of St. Stan s. Bring friends and family and reserve a table of 8, call Sharon Kozak at 330-467-8532 or email at sharonkozak@yahoo.com Picture above are some of those featured in this year s Author s Tea, a literary program at the school. Many parents and family members and friends attended the presentation. Garden Club Spring Clean Up this Saturday, March 31 Tradition has that we gather on the Saturday before Palm Sunday to clean up the grounds and make ready for Easter. Garden Club members, parishioners, students looking for community service who are interested in helping us out on this day are welcome to join. We will gather at 9 a.m. in the rectory back yard, if you can spare an hour or two that would be great. Please bring your favorite hand tools, rakes, and wheel barrel to help with the clean up. Call Lois Sumegi at 216-663-0799 if you have any questions. A FULL HOUSE No, it s not Cleveland s new casino...this a picture of the full house we had at last weekend s CityMusic Cleveland concert. Isn t it nice to see the pews filled? Too bad we don t see this picture too often at religious services!
