Please read the reprinted articles below and consider if you might be interested in helping us out. We have many Masses available between now and the end of June, and will take a limited amount for dates thereafter. David Krakowski WHAT ARE MASS INTENTIONS? It is an ancient and beautiful tradition in the church to offer Mass for a specific prayer intention. Usually Masses are offered for deceased loved ones, but Mass can also be for the intention of the living as well anniversaries, birthdays, or just to be remembered. Although every Mass is offered on behalf of the entire Church and for the sake of the whole world, the priest at the altar holds this special intention in his heart. Usually this intention is named at Mass and listed in the bulletin. But if there is more than one priest at a given Mass, that priest may also carry an intention in his prayer, even though it may not be listed in the bulletin because we may not be able to plan on when there would be two priests at a Mass. Church practice asks that each weekend, one of the Sunday liturgies be designated for the intention of the parishioners. The monetary offering is for the support of the priest. In some places in the world, the Mass offering is the main source of support for him! As Franciscans vowed to poverty, we send these regular Mass offerings to our provincial brotherhood for the support of our fraternity. Church practice asks that in no way to we think of this practice as buying a Mass, or thinking of a given Mass as my Mass. Every Mass is a celebration of the entire community, and the intention is t:he special focus for the prayer of the priest celebrating it. MASS BOOK OPEN FOR 2012 The parish office continues accepting Mass intentions for The office staff are happy to encourage and accommodate Mass intentions as they come in. You can arrange for Masses either by coming in to the parish office between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, or you can mail in your intentions and donations. If the date you request is already taken we will try to find the closest date to the one you request. When you make the request, please let us know if it is for someone who is deceased, or if this is a special intention. Finally, since so many people request Sunday Mass intentions, please try to limit your request for Sunday Masses to two, although weekday Masses are easier to schedule. CO TO SĄ INTENCJE MSZALNE? Piękną tradycją Kościoła sięgającą starożytnych czasów jest ofiarowanie Mszy św. w poszczególnych intencjach - sprawach polecanych Panu Bogu. Najczęściej Msze św. są ofiarowane za zmarłych z naszych rodzin, ale Msza św. może być ofiarowana także w intencjach żywych: z okazji imienin, rocznic, o zdrowie, o szczęśliwe rozwiązanie we wszystkich sprawach, które polecamy w naszych modlitwach. Chociaż owoce każdej Mszy św. są udziałem całego świata, to jednak kapłan może mieć także na uwadze konkretną intencję. Najczęściej intencja jest wymieniona imiennie w Biuletynie, ale jeśli jest to Msza św. koncelebrowana, to drugi kapłan ofiaruje Mszę św. w innej intencji, niż ta zapisana w Biuletynie. Prawo kanoniczne Kościoła domaga się, aby jedna z Mszy św. odprawianych w niedzielę była ofiarowana za parafian. Ofiara pieniężna jest przeznaczona na utrzymanie kapłana. W niektórych rejonach świata stypendium mszalne jest jedynym źródłem utrzymania kapłanów. Jako franciszkanie ślubujący ubóstwo odsyłamy ofiary za odprawione Msze św. do kasy prowincjalnej. Kościół przestrzega nas przed postrzeganiem składania ofiar jako kupowania Mszy św., czy też myślenia to moja Msza św. Owoce każdej Mszy św. służą całej wspólnocie ze specjalnym podkreśleniem konkretnej intencji. KSIĄŻKA Z INTENCJAMI MSZALNYM NA ROK 2012 Biuro parafialne rozpoczęło przyjmowanie intencji mszalnych na rok Pracujący w biurze przyjmują intencje mszalne w kolejności ich zamawiania. Mszę św. można zamówić albo przychodząc osobiście do biura w godzinach od 9:00 rano do 4:00 popołudniu od poniedziałku do piątku, lub też wysyłając informację o intencji wraz z czekem na adres parafii. Jeśli data wskazana w liście jest już zajęta, będziemy starać się zapisać ją w najbliższym wolnym terminie. Jeśli Msza św. jest za zmarłych, proszę podać imiona (imię); jeśli za żywych, proszę to zaznaczyć również. Może być też w intencji ofiarodawcy lub w Bogu wiadomej intencji. Msze św. w ciągu tygodnia są tak samo ważne jak te w niedziele, dlatego zachęcamy do zamawiania Mszy św. w dni powszednie. Będzie na pewno łatwiej znaleźć wolną datę.

4 PASTORAL MESSAGE PASTORAL MESSAGE January 3 Stycznia VARIOUS AND SUNDRY ITEMS Nawracajcie się VIOLET WORSHIP AIDS W ostatniej refleksji wspomniałem ogólnie o trzech praktykach pokutych: o poście, modlitwie i jałmużnie. Rozważanie dzisiejsze i dwa następne będą poświęcone tym poszczególnym praktykom. Dzisiaj chcę pisać o modlitwie. Modlitwa chrześcijańska to coś o wiele więcej niż tylko poranny i wieczorny paciorek Modlitwa wyraża naszą relację z Bogiem; jest rozmową z Nim. Jeśli tak, to warto popatrzeć na czas, jaki w ciągu dnia poświęcam na rozmowę z Bogiem. Tempo życia w Ameryce jest bardzo szybkie, dlatego tym staranniej trzeba to badać. Jeśli niewiele, to trzeba zadać sobie drugie pytanie: Czy w takim razie Pan Bóg jest dla mnie kimś ważnym? Modlitwa wyraża naszą zależność od Boga. Modląc się wyznaję, że czuję się zależny od Niego, że sam z siebie niewiele mogę. Jest moim doświadczeniem duszpasterskim, które pogłębia się w miarę czasu, że o ile prosimy Boga w sprawach materialnych i doczesnych, to w sprawach duchowych nieraz postępujemy tak, jakbyśmy liczyli tylko na własne tylko siły. Nasze postępowanie niekiedy zdaje się wyrażać przesłanie: Jak się zmienię, to przyjdę do Ciebie, Panie Boże. Na razie jeszcze nie mogę, bo jestem niegodny. Jeśli tak jest, jest to błędne podejście - o własnych siłach możemy tylko zgrzeszyć. Jeśli chcemy uczynić coś dobrego, możemy uczynić to tylko z Bogiem. A jeśli coś jest trudne, to tym bardziej powinniśmy prosić dobrego Boga o umocnienie naszej słabej woli. Modlitwa jest wyrazem naszej miłości do Boga, do bliźnich i do siebie samego. Jeśli nie modlę się o dobro duchowe dla siebie, to moja miłość własna nie jest właściwa. Powinienem zatem modlić się za siebie, za moich bliskich, i to nie tylko o powodzenie w sprawach doczesnych, ale raczej o zbawienie, o królestwo Boże dla nich i dla siebie. Bo zgodnie ze słowami Pana, jeśli najpierw będziemy starać się o królestwo Boże, wszystko inne będzie nam dodane. Tak więc, miłość chrześcijańska zaczyna się od nas samych i naszych bliskich, ale na nich się nie kończy - dosięga wszystkich. Bo przecież Pan Jezus kazał nam kochać nieprzyjaciół i modlić się za tych, którzy nas prześladują. Jest to wymaganie trudne do przyjęcia, szczególnie jeśli chcemy zastosować je do konkretnych ludzi, czy to znanych nam osobiście czy innych. Być może dotarła do Ameryki informacja o porwaniu w Sosnowcu kilkumiesięcznej Madzi, która jak później okazało się, nie żyje, a jej matka oskarżona jest o nieumyślne spowodowanie śmierci córeczki. Przyznam się, że w miarę, jak docierało do mnie coraz więcej szczegółów tej sprawy, rodziło się we mnie potępienie dla 22-letniej Katarzyny W., matki Madzi. Jednak dowiedziałem się także, że miała koszmarne dzieciństwo, że była często bita przez ojca, gdy się upił. Dowiedziałem się, że w domu nie doświadczyła bezwarunkowej miłości. Dlatego nie dziwi fakt, że nie była w stanie dać takiej miłości swojemu dziecku. Daleki jestem od usprawiedliwiania jej, bo wydaje się, że nie jest bez winy. Jednak nie chcę też potępiać jej. Bo nie mam takiego prawa. Bo nie wiem wszystkiego o niej. Na pewno słusznie uczynię ofiarując modlitwę w jej intencji, jej męża i całej rodziny. Taki przykład daje nam Pan. O. WEEKDAY MASS INTENTIONS AVAILABLE It is a wonderful tradition in the Catholic Church to remember those we love living and deceased in a special way at Mass. The Mass intention listed in the bulletin is the special intention prayed by the priest celebrating that Mass. There are many undesignated Masses for weekdays coming up soon. KURTZ CARES With the end of winter, people are preparing their gardens for spring and, yes, SUMMER!!. Remember our friends at Kurtz Brothers! Every retail purchase completed at Kurtz provides our parish with a little income, which we will use for our own parish gardens. All you need to do is inform the cashier and mention our account number: Every three months Kurtz Brothers will total all our sales and then donate 10 percent of the proceeds to our church. 6 MARCH 4 MARCA 2012 HOLY LAND GIFTS After all Masses the weekend of March 10-11, 2012 there will be a display of hand made articles for sale in the vestibule of the church including nativity scenes, rosaries, crucifixes, the last supper and other religious items. Due to the recent and ongoing interruption of the tourist trade, over 100 Christian families in Bethlehem who make their livelihood through the sale of handmade olive wood religious articles find themselves struggling. Please consider helping them by purchasing some items thus helping the Christians who remain in the land of Jesus birth, death and resurrection to continue to remain there. ST. STANS HISTORICAL FACT by Rob Jagelewski. The graduating class of 1950 from St. Stanislaus High School attended their commencement in our church on Sunday, June 4, The Class of 50 had 52 members. Several medals were given to top students in religion, math, English, and commercial. The winners of these awards were Constance Ostrowski (religion), Phillip Koran (math), Joan Porter (english), and Dolores Bogacki (commercial). The Most Outstanding member of the Class of 50 was Leonard Krysinski. Pastor, Father Casimir Wisniewski OFM distributed the diplomas. The guest speaker at the commencement was Father Daniel Pfielshifter OFM. CHURCH AND STATE The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced that almost all employers, including Catholic employers, will be forced to offer their employees health coverage that includes abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and contraception. Bishop Lennon calls this a severe assault and denial of the most fundamental First Amendment freedom: religious liberty. If you would like to contact your Ohio Senators and Congressional Representatives, information and a tear-off letter to sign and mail are available in the vestibule. HOLY NAME SOCIETY PLANNING MEETING Calling all men and women of St. Stanislaus...The first step in getting the Holy Name Society started in our parish is to have an organizational/ planning meeting. If you would like to help with the start-up of our HNS please contact Ronnie Zeszut as the meeting will be scheduled for sometime in the first week of March. CITYMUSIC CONCERT On Saturday evening (7:30 pm), March 17th, 2012, CityMusic Cleveland, our city s premier chamber orchestra, returns to St. Stanislaus with more great music for a great price...free This performance will feature world renowned guest violinist Dylana Jenson in Brahm s Violin Concerto, as well as the full ensemble s playing Wagner s Siegfried Idyll and Mozart s Symphony from the Posthorn Serenade.
