From the desk of the Pastor On this Fourth Sunday of Advent we focus on the Blessed Virgin Mary. It used to be that we Catholics placed great emphasis on Mary while our Protestant brothers and sisters tended to ignore her. That is changing - and sometimes Evangelical Christians remind us about Mary's important role. There is nice Country Western hymn that Johnny Cash sings, called Merry Christmas, Mary. Here are some of the lyrics: Merry Christmas, Mary. Thank you for the child. Thank you for the Lord Jesus thank you for the child. Too often we forget to thank you for your part in giving the greatest Christmas present yet.. The parents here know that if your child receives a gift from an uncle or grandparent, you are going to make sure he sits down to write a thank-you note. If a child doesn't learn to say "thank you," he becomes an ingrate. And what about us? Do we thank Mary for the greatest gift ever?... Pope Benedict He notes that for over a thousand years, Christians have greeted Mary as "Star of the Sea." In former days, mariners used the stars to guide them home. As the pope observes, "The true stars of our life are the people who have lived good lives." Along with Jesus, Mary is the greatest guide for our journey home The Holy Father then speaks directly to Mary: "Your life was thoroughly imbued with the sacred scriptures of Israel...Mother of Hope, Mother of God, our Mother, teach us to believe, to hope, to love with you. Show us the way to his Kingdom! Star of the Sea, shine upon us and guide us on our way." Mary is a great example for our lives. She is the star that guides us. In these final days of Advent we walk with her, with the unborn Child and with St. Joseph. Let's go to Bethlehem. Let's go to the manger. And this is very good moment to thank the Virgin Mary Fr. Nie nosi kamizelki kuloodpornej i nie jeździ opancerzonym samochodem. Nie łamie trzciny nadłamanej i nie gasi tlącego się płomienia. On przychodzi jako dziecko, otoczone nie dobermanami i rotwailerami, ale w stajni, w otoczeniu domowych zwierząt, w ubóstwie i w prostocie, w niedostatku i w biedzie. En dias anteriores, marineros usaban las estrellas para guiarlos a su tierra. Como el papa observa, "Las verdaderas estrellas de nuestra vida son las personas que han sabido vivir rectamente." Al lado de Jesus, Maria es la gran guia para ir a nuesto hogar verdadero Maria es la gran estrella de nuestras vidas. Reflections from Fr. Emil. THE MYSTERIES OF JESUS' INFANCY AND HIDDEN LIFE The coming of God's Son to earth is an event of such immensity that God willed to prepare for it over centuries. He makes everything converge on Christ; all the rituals and sacrifices figures and symbols of the "First Covenant". He announces him through the mouths of the prophets who succeeded one another in Israel. Moreover, he awakens in the hearts of the pagans a dim expectation of this coming. St. John the Baptist is the Lord's immediate precursor or forerunner, sent to prepare his way. Prophet of the Most High, John surpasses all the prophets, of whom he is the last. He inaugurates the Gospel, already from his mother's womb welcomes the coming of Christ, and rejoices in being the friend of the bridegroom, whom he points out as the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Going befor Jesus in the spirit and power of Elijah. John bears witness to Christ in his preaching, by his Baptism of conversion, and through his martyrdom. When the Church celebrates the liturgy of Advent each year, she makes present this ancient expectancy of the Messiah, for by sharing in the long preparation for the Savior's first coming, the faithful renew their ardent desire for his second coming, By celebrating the precursor's birth and martyrdom, the Church unites herself to his desire; "He must increase, but I must decrease". Święty Jan Chrzciciel jest bezpośrednim poprzednikiem Pana, posłanym, by przygotować Mu drogi "Prorok Najwyższego" przerasta wszystkich proroków, jest ostatnim z nich, zapoczątkowuje Ewangelię, pozdrawia Chrystusa już w łonie matki i znajduje radość jako przyjaciel oblubieńca, nazywając Go Barankiem Bożym, który gładzi grzechy świata. SCHOOL NEWS The true Christmas spirit was evident Thursday night, December 16 th when the children of St. Bruno School presented their annual Christmas Pageant. The performance began with the 5 th grade class singing some favorite Christmas carols. The Pre School 3 year olds and 4 year olds then sang some of their special Christmas songs. The show concluded with the Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2, along with 5 th grade choir, presenting the Christmas Story. The students of St. Bruno School wish everyone a Blessed Christmas. Prawdziwy nastrój Bożego Narodzenia przejawił się w czwartek wieczorem, kiedy to dzieci ze Szkoły św. Brunona przedstawiły jasełka. Przedstawienie zaczęły dzieci z klasy piątej śpiewając ulubione kolędy Bożego Narodzenia. Przedszkolaki 3 i 4 latki śpiewały również specjalne pieśni Bożego Narodzenia. Przedstawienie było zakończone udziałem dzieci z przedszkola oraz klasy 1 i 2 oraz klasa piąta przedstawiła chóralny śpiew i historię Bożego Narodzenia. El verdadero espíritu de la Navidad era evidente la noche del Jueves, 16 de Diciembre cuando los niñosde la escuela de San Bruno presentaron su desfile anual de Navidad. La actuación se inició cuando la clase de 5º grado canto algunas canciones favoritas. Los niños de 3 y cuatro años del salon Pre Escolar luego cantaron algunos de sus especiales canciones de Navidad. El programa concluyó con los grados de Kinder, 1º y 2º, juntos con el coro de 5º grado, presentaron la historia de Navidad. Los estudiantes de la Escuela de San Bruno les desea a todos una Feliz Navidad.
