FROM THE PASTOR S DESK WHY THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL? The purpose of the Appeal is to raise money to fund the different ministries, activities and services that the Archdiocese of Chicago carries out. HOW DID THE APPEAL DO LAST YEAR? The campaign for the Archdiocese of Chicago was quite successful. Over $14,000,000 has been raised to date from over 92,000 households. As far as our parish is concerned, you pledged $34,058, and as of December 20, 2009, you contributed $28,919. Our 2009 goal was 23,741. That means that the Archdiocese, after removing our assessment, returned a partial return of $3,258.50 in December of 2009 with the final rebate to arrive in March of 2010. Once again I thank you for your generosity for the 2009 campaign. HOW MUCH IS TO BE RAISED THIS YEAR? The total goal for the 2010 campaign is $14,000,000. Yes, it is a lot a lot of money, but we must work as a diocese to see beyond the dollar amount! We need to see the vast number of people in our parish, in our archdiocese and in the universal Church who are helped by the services provided by the effective use of this money. WHAT IS ST. BRUNO S SHARE FOR THE 2010 YEAR? As a parish community, we are asked to contribute $22,680 to the Appeal. WHAT HAPPENS IF OUR PARISH RAISES MORE THAN $22,680? If we exceed our goal, 100% of these above-goal funds will be returned to our parish. We hope to use any surplus to replace our aging air-conditioning and heating system in our church along with our Capital Improvement Fund. HOW MUCH SHOULD I PLEDGE? The final answer to this question is found in the depths of each person s generous conscience. We can ask ourselves these two questions: 1. Do I believe that my financial support of St Bruno and the Archdiocese of Chicago is a part of my responsibility of a Catholic? 2. Is what I give to the work of the Church enough to show how grateful I am for what God has blessed me with? The final decision is up to you. WHAT IS THE PLEDGE PROCESS? On this weekend, you are asked to make a commitment. During the following weekend of February 13-14, those who have not had the opportunity to fill out the pledge cards will be asked to do so at all the Masses. La decision final depende de ti. COMO SE PROCESA EL COMPROMISO? En el fin de semana de Febrero 7 se te va a pedir hacer tu compromiso. Durante la ciguiente fin de semana de Fabrero 14 los que no han tenido la oportunidad para llenar la carta del compromiso se les pedira que lo hagan en cada Misa. Reflections from Fr. Emil THREE CRITERIA FOR INTERPRETING SCRIPTURE The Second Vatican Council indicates three criteria for interpreting Scripture in accordance with the Spirit who inspired it. Be especially attentive to the content and unity of the whole Scripture. Different as the books which comprise it may be, Scripture is a unity by reason of the unity of God's plan, of which Christ Jesus is the center and heart, open since his Passover. Read the Scripture within the living Tradition of the whole Church. According to a saying of the Fathers, Sacred Scripture is written principally in the Church's heart rather than in documents and records, for the Church carries in her Tradition the living memorial of God's Word, and it is the Holy Spirit who gives her the spiritual interpretation of the Scripture according to the spiritual meaning which the Spirit grants to the Church. Be attentive to the analogy of faith. By analogy of faith we mean the coherence of the truths of faith among themselves and within the whole plan of Revelation. Fr. Zwracać uwagę przede wszystkim na treść i jedność całego Pisma św. Jakkolwiek byłyby zróżnicowane księgi, z których składa się Pismo św. to jest ono jednak jedno ze względu na jedność Bożego zamysłu, którego Jezus Chrystus jest ośrodkiem i sercem, otwartym po wypełnieniu Jego Paschy. Czytać Pismo św. w żywej tradycji całego Kościoła. Według powiedzenia Ojców Kościoła - "Pismo św. jest bardziej wypisane na sercu Kościoła niż na pergaminie". Istotnie, Kościół nosi w swojej Tradycji żywą pamięć słowa Bożego, a Duch św. przekazuje mu duchową interpretację Pisma św. według sensu duchowego, który Duch daje Kościołowi. Leer la Escritura en la Tradicion viva de toda la Iglesia. Segun un adagio de los Padres. Sagrada Escritura esta mas en el corazon de la Iglesia que en la materialidad de los libros escritos. En efecto, la Iglesia enciera en su Tradicion la memoria viva de la Palabra de Dios, y el Espiritu Santo le da interpretacion espiritual de la Escritura. Estar atento a la analogia de la fe. January, 2010 Dear Parishioner of St. Bruno, On Saturday, February 20, 2010, Saint Bruno will once again be hosting a fundraiser. Junior High students will recreate the classic game show To Tell The Truth. Local celebrities will join us as the stars of the show. All profits will be used to benefit the school. We are looking to our parishioners to show their support of Saint Bruno School by participating in our ad book. It is a great way to show your support for Catholic education. You could place an ad for your families, in memory of a deceased, acknowledge an accomplishment, to promote your organization or just to show your support. Por favor llamar a la rectoria 8 meses antes de la boda. Durante la primera reunion con el Padre o Diacono,sera confirmada la fecha de la boda. Necesitan una precana para poder casarse. SACRAMENTO DE ENFERMOS Y COMUNION. LLamar a la rectoria para desirle al sacerdote que si puede venir. Si usted esta hospilizado o en la casa y necesita que vaya un ministro de comunion,por favor llamar a la rectoria. CONFESIONES. Cada sabado de 4.00 PM a 4.45 PM. Cada dia despues de misa de 7.OO PM. Cada jueves de 3.OO PM a 4.00 PM y 5:00 PM a 6:00 PM.
