The international trade fair METAL is universally recognised as such a barometer to the type and size of changes observed in Polish foundry engineering. Thus this is the place where foundry engineers from Poland and the neighbouring countries meet in order to discuss the modernisation possibilities to be introduced in their companies. We are privileged as the technical studies in the field of foundry engineering, and particularly at the only Europe s university department solely dedicated to foundry engineering education (the Faculty of Foundry Engineering at the AGH University of Technology), generate a considerable interest among young people in Poland. This year is exceptionally rich when the anniversaries of the institutions which operate for the foundry engineering sector are concerned. The Faculty of Foundry Engineering has celebrated its 60th anniversary as an independent body in the structure of the AGH University of Technology, the Foundry Research Institute has operated for 65 years, the Technical Association of Polish Foundrymen has existed for 75 years. This creates a perfect opportunity to present the achievements as well as the present-day offer of these institutions as they are the indispensable elements of the business sector operation continuity and modernisation. Polish industry sector has taken up ambitious endeavours which are designed to strengthen its position as one of the most important sectors of economy in Europe. It has become our tradition that the METAL fair, the most important annual event in the world of foundry engineering, is the platform for substantial discussions. We hope that the international fair METAL 2011 will again break its records regarding the number of exhibitors and attendants as well as prove its significance in the development of foundry engineering in Poland. Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome cordially to the 17th edition of. International Fair of Technologies for Foundry METAL and the exhibition held simultaneously the 10th International Fair of Aluminium & Technology, Materials and Non-Ferrous Metal Products ALUMINIUM & NONFERMET. Our meeting is one of the largest Poland s trade fairs devoted to foundry engineering and at the same time one of the most important events of this kind in Europe. The METAL fair brings together over 250 companies from all over the world more then half of them are foreign companies or their commercial agencies which operate in Poland. Over 3,000 square metres of exhibition space is the showcase for their offer. The branch range of the fair, which is really extensive and comprehensive, is the answer to the trade fair exhibitors and visitors demands; thus they will be able to find here everything what is necessary for foundry engineering.
