Boy Scout Troop 475 is having a Wendy s Fundraising night this Wednesday, March 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the local Wendy s restaurant, 5679 S. Archer Ave. Troop 475 will benefit from all the food ordered during that time. The Troop thanks A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew: Jesus said to his disciples: Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name? Then I will declare to them solemnly, I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers. Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined. Congratulations to Adam Danielewicz. Today, Bishop Raymond Goedert will preside at the Rite of Institution into the Ministry of Reader and welcome him into that ministry at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He is part of a group of 19 men who will take part in the liturgy and become instituted Readers. Reflection Question: What word of Jesus has really spoken to me and how has it made a difference in my life? Group Discussion or Meditation: Say the Our Father Concluding Prayer: God our Father, Teach us to cherish the gifts that surround us. Increase our faith in you and bring our trust to its promised fulfillment in the joy of your kingdom. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SEASONAL CHANGES FOR THE LITURGIES OF LENT This coming Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. During this season of preparation for Easter, our churches look stark and simple - no flowers at the altar, no festive banners or decorations. And our liturgies feel different, too. The organ is quiet except to accompany the singing of the assembly. The Gloria, our Sunday song of rejoicing, is not heard except on solemnities, and we will not sing the Alleluia, our joyful acclamation of praise, until the Easter Vigil. Alleluia cannot always/be our song while here below, say an eleventh-century hymn. Alleluia our transgressions/make us for a while forego;/for the solemn time is coming/when our tears for sins must flow (Alleluia dulce Carmen, J.M. Neale, trans.). These changes in the liturgy will catch our attention, and make us eager for the festive outpouring of joy that will return with Easter. This year, may the stripped-away liturgies of Lent remind us to strip away what is not essential in our lives to make space for the crucified and risen One, and thus to be ready to sing Alleluia once again when Easter returns.

Serdecznie zapraszamy do udzialu w liturgii wielkopostnej. Sroda Popielcowa wprowadza nas w nastrój Wielkiego Postu i przygotowuje do przezycia swiat Zmartwychwstania Panskiego. Zachecamy rowniez wszystkich do skorzystania z Sakramentu Pokuty. Mozliwosc spowiedzi bedzie w kazdy Piatek przed nabozenstwem Drogi Krzyzowej o godzinie 5:00 po ploudniu. Msza Swieta o godzinie 6:00 wieczorem. Nabozenstwo Gorzkich Zali odprawiane bedzie w kazda Niedziele po Mszy Swietej o godzinie 1:00 po poludniu. Serdecznie zapraszamy do uczestnictwa w nabozenstwach Wielkpostnych. Nawrócenie. Potrzebujemy go wszyscy. Duzi i mali, młodzi i starzy, uczeni i niewykształceni. Intencje Mszalne Jesli ktos z Panstwa chcialby zamowic Msze Swieta w intencji bliskiej Wam osoby, nalezy skontaktowac sie z kancelaria parafialna 4 tygodnie wczesniej przed planowana data Mszy Swietej, w ten sposob unikniemy niepotrzebnych nieporozumien. W Bośni i Hercegowinie, Bułgarii, Brazylii, Chorwacji, Czarnogórze, Rumunii, Mołdawii, Macedonii, Słowenii, Serbii i Węgrzech najczęściej dostają kwiaty. Czasami prezenty ofiarują swoim pracownicom również pracodawcy. Często obdarowane przez swoich uczniów zostają nauczycielki. W Polsce święto było popularne w okresie PRL. Początkowo ofiarowywano goździki, a później tulipany. W latach 80-tych do popularnych podarunków dołączyły slodycze.
