February 22, 2004 Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Five Our Lenten Alms: that others may benefit through our sacrifice, Lord, hear our prayer. Support for the Maternity Fund through Catholic Charities Maternity Services provides professional counseling services for pregnant teens, women, birth fathers and their families who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Medical care planning and assistance is provided throughout pre-natal, delivery and the post-natal periods. Clients receive social services and educational support in making a plan for the care of their baby. Options that are explored include parenting, relative placement and making a plan for adoption. Licensed temporary care is available, providing birth parents with a safe nurturing home for their infant while they finalize plans for their child's future. Family Case Management - Case management of medical services to pregnant women, infants and children up to 6 years of age to insure that pregnant women receive prenatal and postpartum care and infants and children receive immunizations and other appropriate medical services. Support for The Port Ministries The Port Famil is inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi and the Franciscan Charism to hear their call to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ by full hearted service to the poor and throwaways of society. Their goal is to evangelize the poor through a listening heart and presence, and through meeting basic human needs for food, shelter, clothing etc. Their call to service is also a call through the Catholic Church to have a preferential option for the poor in their mission and their life style. Port Ministries does not engage in social work or welfare reform. It seeks the Face of Jesus in "the distressing disguise of the poor", especially the children, who are the poorest of the poor. Support for our own parish families in need. There are many needy families among us. Help us help one another. Lenten Regulations Abstinence from meats is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted. The special Paschal fast and abstinence are prescribed for Good Friday and encouraged for Holy Saturday. Market Day foods kids love! Choose from a selection of kid favorite items. Plus, order just one item this month and receive our Trial Size Chocolate Chip Mini Pancakes free! It's sure to be another kid favorite! New Products! Page Six Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time February 22, 2004 ŒRODA POPIELCOWA Msza œw. z posypaniem g³ów popio³em w jêzyku polskim o godz. 7 wieczorem w koœciele Panie, czym e ja jestem przed Twoim obliczem? Prochem i niczem. A. Mickiewicz Dziœ nasze g³owy zostan¹ posypane popio³em, co oznacza, e uznajemy swoje winy, rozpoznajemy swoje grzechy i szczerze a³ujemy za nie przed Bogiem. Popió³ przecie nas brudzi, domaga siê zatem fizycznego obmycia i budzi potrzebê duchowego oczyszczenia, rozpoczêcia nowego ycia. Dziêki temu æwiczeniu cz³owiek mo e zbli yæ siê do drugich, stworzyæ wspólnotê. Modlitwa z kolei kieruje nasz¹ uwagê na Boga, wyczula nasz wewnêtrzny s³uch na Jego g³os, pozwala siê z Nim spotkaæ i zjednoczyæ. Dziêki niej cz³owiek wchodzi w g³êbok¹ relacjê z Bogiem, on sam i jego œwiat poszerzaj¹ siê do wymiarów nieskoñczonych, wszystko zostaje w nim oczyszczone i nasycone œwiat³em, piêknem i ³ask¹. Ks.
