THE COLORFULL, ECONOMICAL SUPPORT FOR RES Contrary to the majority of the European countries that foster renewable energy markets with feed-in tariff schemes, Poland promotes renewable energy generation providing investors with the Renewable Energy Certificates (REC s) system. Certificates for electricity generated from RES Certificates for biomethane injected into the grid Certificates for CHP units supplied with gas fuels or for total electric power not exceeding 1MW Certificates of the methane-fueled CHP units derived from mines or biogas Certificates of biogas or biomass for total electric power above 1 MW
According to the EU directive 2009/28/EC, Poland is obliged to produce 15 percent of clean energy in whole domestic energy production by 2020. Energy from renevable sources: Electricity 7% Heat and cold 6% Transport 12% 50% of co-combustion of biomass, 25% of huge hydropower plants 25% of new sources 95% of biomass, out of grid 5% of new sources 100% of biofuels It is estimated that in the years 2000 2010 the increase in the share of renewable energy in final energy consumption was 8% While in fact it is only 1% of renevable energy from new, built in the years 2000-2010 RES installations
