From the Pastor s Desk. Today's Feast - Christ the King - has an interesting history. Even though the Bible clearly presents Jesus as King, it wasn't until 1925 that the Church established a feast day with that title. Pope Pius XI inaugurated this celebration as a response to the totalitarian regimes that emerged in the early twentieth century. Those regimes claimed absolute power over their citizens and they scoffed at the role of God in guiding people's lives. Against this grab for absolute control, the Church said, "No, the state does not have the highest authority. That belongs to God." And as Christians, we know that Jesus is God. He is the King over all kings. In our second reading, St. Paul states that all things were created through Jesus and for him. "He is before all things...preeminent.".we belong to Jesus. He is our king. If a government overreaches itself, if it demands a submission that we cannot give, we have a simple, direct response: Jesus is our king. He is the King over all kings. About forty years ago, our Supreme Court gave the state a huge power. In 1973 (by a six to three vote) the Supreme Court decreed that government could license doctors to take the lives of unborn babies - right up to time of birth. (No doctor can legally work in our country without a license from the government; prior to January 22, 1973, that license was only granted for positive purposes such as performing surgeries or prescribing medicines.) Many welcomed the Supreme Court decision as an extension of freedom, but when people started thinking more deeply, it became evident that something else had happened: The government had assumed a power to itself - the power to remove the right to life from a whole class of humans. Król jednak dobrowolnie zszedł na samo jego dno, by po trzech dniach przez zmartwychwstanie wznieść się ponad wszelkie kryzysy tego świata. Wszedł w świat wiecznego dobra, bez jakichkolwiek kryzysów, ale takiego świata bez kryzysów nie stworzył w naszej doczesnej rzeczywistości. Wskazał jedynie, że w kryzysach można dostrzec i udoskonalić wyższe wartości. Idealnie wprost swoją tragiczną sytuację wykorzystał umierający u boku Chrystusa łotr. Sam wisząc na krzyżu, w obliczu śmierci, dostrzegł, że wartością zdolną uszczęśliwić człowieka nie jest spokojne życie na ziemi, lecz możliwość dotarcia do królestwa Bożego. Prosi więc Jezusa, by o nim nie zapomniał. Pierwszy święty kanonizowany przez samego Chrystusa mówi nam, w jaki sposób można wykorzystać sytuacje trudne. Ks. Reflections from Fr. Emil. COMMUNION OF CHRISMS Within the communion of the Church the Holy Spirit distributes special graces among the faithful of every rank for the building up of the Church. Now to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. They had everything in common. Everything the true Christian has is to be regarded as a good possessed in common with everyone else. All Christian should be ready and eager to come to the help of the needy, and of their neighbors in want. A Christian is a steward of the Lord's goods. Communion in charity. In the sanctorum communion. None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If one member suffers, all suffer together, if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. Charity does not insist on its own way. In this solidarity with all men, living or dead, which is founded on the communion of saints, the least of our acts done in charity redounds to the profit of all. Every sin harms the communion. Fr. Chrześcijanin jest zarządcą dóbr Pana. Komunia miłości. Nikt z nas nie żyje dla siebie i nikt nie umiera dla siebie. Gdy cierpi jeden człowiek, współcierpią wszystkie inne członki, podobnie gdy jednemu członkowi okazywane jest poszanowanie, współweselą się wszystkie członki. Wy przeto jesteście Ciałem Chrystusem i poszczególnymi członkami. Miłość nie szuka swego. Najmniejszy nasz czyn spełniony w miłości przynosi korzyść wszystkim, w solidarności z wszystkimi ludżmi, żywymi czy zmarłymi, która opiera się na komunii świętych. Każdy grzech szkodzi tej komunii. In November, the 5 th Grade students learned about weather. We did many experiments focusing on weather fronts, cloud formation, and natural disasters. We looked at weather reports and read weather related stories. As a culminating activity, students dressed up as meteorologists and reported on the Storm of the Century. The students did a terrific job on this project and displayed a deep understanding of weather. Miss Glynn 5 th Grade Teacher 5 listopada, nasi uczniowie klasy piątej, uczyli się o tajnikach pogody. Jako punkt kulminacyjny w aktywności uczniów, studenci przebrali się za tych którzy przepowiadają pogodę i przedstawili sztukę pod tytułem"burza w ciągu wieków" Uczniowie przedstawili wspaniałą pracę w tym projekcie i pogłebili znajomość przepowiadania pogody En Noviembre, los estudiantes del 5º grado aprendieron sobre la temporada. Hemos hecho muchos experimentos centrados en los frentes de la temporada, la formación de nubes, y los desastres naturales. Nos fijamos en los informes de la temporada y leimos cuentos relacionados con el clima. Como actividad final, los estudiantes se vistieron de meteorólogos e informaron sobre la "tormenta del siglo". Los estudiantes hicieron un excelente trabajo en este proyecto y mostraron una profunda comprensión de las condiciones meteorológicas.
