La semana pasada compartimos un resumen de la iniciativa arquidiocesana Renovar Mi iglesia. En esta carta, describiremos el formato básico de ese proceso. W zeszłym tygodniu omówiliśmy archidiecezjalny projekt pod nazwą Odnów mój Kościół. W tym tygodniu opiszemy pokrótce format tego procesu. Zaangażowane parafie połączono w zgrupowania, które w ciągu najbliższych kilku lat będą stopniowo aktywowane. Pierwsze zgrupowania zaczęły funkcjonować już 2 lata temu, pozostałe zaś zaczną pracę w przeciągu następnych 4-5 lat. W naszym regionie (Dziekanat V-b) funkcjonują następujące zgrupowania: Grupa I: Parafie św. Józefa i św. Błażeja Grupa II: Kościoły świętego Renee oraz świętej Symforozy Grupa III: Parafie św. Daniela, św. Joanny de Chantal, Matki Bożej Większej oraz św. Kamila. Jako proboszczowie, rozpoczęliśmy już wstępne przygotowania nad efektywnym wdrożeniem całego procesu. Całkiem niedawno cztery parafie z Grupy III otrzymały z Archidiecezji potwierdzenie aktywacji, a tym samym rozpoczęcia procesu odnowy. Wraz z aktywacją grupy, każda parafia będzie miała własne, świeckie przedstawicielstwo w konsultacjach. Ponadto Archidiecezja zorganizuje wszelkie potrzebne szkolenia. W trakcie trwania tego procesu, Archidiecezja Chicago przedstawi wszystkim grupom pewną liczbę propozycji, z których będą mogły wybrać coś dla siebie. Propozycje te uzależnione będą od żywotności danej parafii, jej aktualnej sytuacji finansowej, stanu budynków parafialnych, jak też od dostępności kapłanów. Last week we shared an overview of the Archdiocesan initiative Renew My Church. In this letter, we will outline the basic format of that process. All parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago have been placed in groupings that will be activated over a period of years. The first groupings began their work two years ago and the final groupings will be activated within four or five years. In our region (Deanery V-B), the Archdiocese has created the following groupings: 1. Group One: St. Joseph and St. Blase 2. Group Two: St. Renee and St. Symphorosa 3. Group Three: St. Daniel the Prophet, St. Jane de Chantal, Our Lady of Snows, and St. Camillus As pastors, we have already begun some preliminary work. Just recently, within the past month, the four parishes in Group Three just received word from the Archdiocese that their group has been activated to begin the Renew My Church process. When a group is activated, every parish will have lay representation on the consultation process and the Archdiocese will provide necessary training as well. In this process, the Archdiocese will present a number of scenarios for the grouping. These scenarios are based on parish vitality, financial realities, the condition of parish facilities, and as well as priest availability. There are a number of general principles to guide the process. They include the following: As a general rule, a parish needs to have a Sunday church attendance of at least 600 persons to justify a fulltime resident pastor in the future. A minimum of 800 worshippers is preferred. Within a few years, we will not have enough priests to provide smaller parishes with a resident pastor. As a general rule, to ensure quality resources for worship, pastoral care, religious education, and evangelization, a parish needs to have an income from collections that exceeds $500,000 per year (excluding rental income). However, $750,000 is considered ideal to offer more comprehensive ministerial services and ministries. As a general rule, a Catholic school should project an enrollment of at least 200 students in the future to be considered viable. A minimum of 240 students is preferred. The groupings will be free to create their own proposals for consideration as well. Parishes in a grouping, along with other groups nearby, will consider adjusting the daily and Sunday Mass schedule, including sharing the daily Masses between parishes or even sharing the Sunday evening Mass. This also might mean more combined ministries and perhaps the sharing of associate pastors, if an associate pastor is available. Overall, the process will include a number of meetings between staffs, between parish leadership teams (including both parish and school representatives) and town hall style meetings open to the entire parish. Planning in detail cannot begin until the groups are activated. The overall time frame of the Renew My Church process for activated grouping of parishes is approximately six to eight months of discernment, followed by their recommendations to the Archdiocese. Several more months will be needed to finalize the plans and then a time frame for implementation will be determined.
