Building of Rural Development Resources in Balkan region - No BoRDeR project Project background and aims: The project was based on needs expressed by rural development (RD) networks from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia to enhance their participation in RD and EU approximation processes, using the experience of the partners from Visegrad countries. Main project aim: the members of rural development networks and rural communities in West Balkan area enhance their capacity for planning and implementing initiatives that contribute to the development of rural areas, based on the participation of all three sectors

Building of Rural Development Resources in Balkan region - No BoRDeR project Activities: A1.1 Training of trainers "Animation of local partnerships in rural areas" for representants of WB RD networks, provided by 2 trainers from FAOW A1.2 ToT "Strategic planning in rural areas"; Training will be organized for representants of WB RD networks, provided by one trainer from FAOW, one from the Olomouc Region Association of LAGs and one from Deli Napfeny LAG A1.3 Elaboration, printing and distribution of the manual "Animation of local partnerships in rural areas"; A2.1 Training "Local action groups as territorial development partnership in rural areas"; Training will be provided by one trainer of FAOW, RAO and DNLE for representants ofwb RD networks A2.2 Mentoring programme for WB LAG networks at Visegrad LAGs. This activity also will support networking of LAGs and WB networks. A2.3 Brochure about the experience of LAGs and LAGs initiatives with examples from WB region and VS countries.

Building of Rural Development Resources in Balkan region - No BoRDeR project Activities - continued: A3.1 Two joint thematic roundtables of rural networks from WB and VSC; Thematic roundtables will be organized in WB with participation organizations from both areas and will provide knowledge about network management and activities of networks. A3.2 Development of a web platform for networking support; The web platform will collect information about RD and ensure transfer of knowledge for stakeholders from WB, VSC and EU

Enhanced capacity of 4 rural development networks in WB for supporting rural community animation, building local partnership and creation of local development strategies in rural areas. R2. lmproved capacities of LAG initiatives in WB for development of their territories and established chanels for knowledge transfer between WB and VSC. R3. lmproved management capacities of the Networks for RD from WB based on the Visegrad countries experience.

Linking up for Rural Development project Project background and aims: After colapse of Yugoslavia and its centrally managed economic system, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is trying revive its rural areas, both in economic and social aspect. The project aims at promoting the European Union model of local development with a focus on planning proces and using the Visegrad Four (V4), former socialist, countries experience Main project aim: to strengthen the governance of rural development processes so as to guarantee positive impacts and new opportunities for economic development

Linking up for Rural Development project Activities: 1. Kick-off meeting (Skopje, FYROM) 2. Field research concerning level of involvement of rural population in decisionmaking in Macedonia and V4 countries (questionnaires) 3. Joint training: Phase 1 Data gathering and analysis, Phase 2 Building Action plans for rural economic development (Loucen, CZ) 4. Joint training: Phase 3 Implementation of local development strategies (Budapest, HU) 5. Elaboration of local development strategies in 3 municipalities of Macedonia: Krivogashtani, Dolneni and Krushevo

Linking up for Rural Development project Results: 1. Established e-network involving LED entities from Macedonia and V4 countries, basis for future cooperation 2. Increased active involvement of civil society and citizens in decision-making process 3. Based on new models, strategies for rural economic development elaborated

Linking up for Rural Development project Financing: Visegrad Plus Grants Programme Budget: ca 20,000 EUR (15,000 from Visegrad Plus GP) Implementation period: 2017-2018

LEADER/CLLD as a revolution in dissemination of know-how on planning of local development taking into account economic, social and environmental potential of an area Why? 1/ because LEADER/CLLD is an action combining theory (training) with practice (elaboration of LDS) 2/ because education process is supported by a (very?) strong economic incentive, which very significantly increases its effectiveness 3/ because no other education scheme concerning planning of local development taking into account economic, social and environmental potential of an area has involved such a number of local communities in Europe
