Prosimy przynieść dowolną potrawę na kolacji. Dear Parishioners, As we told you few Sundays ago, we had some big expense to deal with. Our sump pump in the church basement broke on the day of Polish Fest. We had to replace that. Our mechanical contractor installed a new pump last week. We are waiting for the invoice from them, but the estimate was around 12,000.00. We have made good money from the fest, however from that we need to pay the property insurance and our assessment for Boylan school. If anyone would like to contribute to this project to defery the cost, we would be most grateful. Just put your tax deductible donation in a separate envelope and mark PUMP. Wiem, że na festiwalu zarobiliśmy ładną sumę, ale niestety z tego musimy zapłacić za ubezpieczenie gruntów i budynków jak również za szkołę Boylan. Dlatego też proszę Was o pomoc. 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF POLAND REGAINING INDEPENDENCE On 11 November 1918, the dream of generations of Poles came true: the Polish state was reborn. Following the partitions and 123 years of serfdom, Russification and Germanisation, after great uprisings, free Poland was reinstated on the map of the world. Regaining independence occurred due to devotion and heroism not only on battlefields, but also in the efforts to preserve the spiritual and material substance of the nation as well as in everyday endurance of Polish families. In 1795, following the signing of Poland s Constitution, the first in Europe, Poland went to war with neighbouring powers and was ultimately divided up into three partitions under Austrian, Russian and Prussian rule. The first partition took place in 1772. In that year, after signing an agreement in Vienna, Russian, Prussian as well as Austrian troops invaded the commonwealth. As a result, Poland lost parts of its land, but still existed in Europe. After two decades, Russian and Prussian troops entered Poland again, taking over the remaining parts of the country. In 1795, after an unsuccessful Polish uprising, the commonwealth suffered again. As a result of the third partition, Poland disappeared from the map of the world. For the next 123 years, Poland didn t officially exist. Finally, on 11 November 1918, World War I came to an end and Poland regained its independence. Independence Day is celebrated annually on 11 November. It became a national holiday in 1937 however throughout communist rule until 1989, the holiday was forbidden. It was reinstated in 1990 following the demise of communism. In the difficult years of communism, a new hope for Poles arose when Karol Wojtyła (John Paul II) was chosen Pope in 1978. Two years later, in 1980, Solidarity was founded, being the first mass independent trade union in communist states. This reform movement, led by Lech Walesa, eventually broke Soviet control in Eastern Europe. The first elections of the Third Polish Republic were held in 1989 and the country entered a period of transition from a communist state to the capitalist economic system and liberal parliamentary democracy. A modern Polish state arose. Poland has a constitution which was signed in 1997. The country is a member of NATO since 1999 and joined the European Union in 2004. After years of turbulent history, the Poland has finally found stability and a chance for growth in peace and liberty. Rokiem Jubileuszu 100-lecia odzyskania przez Polskę Niepodległości. Jak podkreślono w dokumencie, to dzięki tym, którzy pozostali nieugięci, nasz Naród wyszedł zwycięsko z dziejowej próby. "Odzyskanie niepodległości dokonało się poprzez walkę pełną poświęcenia i bohaterstwa nie tylko na polach bitew, ale i w codziennych zmaganiach o zachowanie duchowej i materialnej substancji narodowej oraz w codziennym trwaniu polskich rodzin" - głosi uchwała. Sejm wyraził też nadzieję, że wzorem Ojców Niepodległości - Józefa Piłsudskiego, Romana Dmowskiego, Ignacego Paderewskiego, Wincentego Witosa, Wojciecha Korfantego i Ignacego Daszyńskiego - Polacy porzucą spory, by wspólnie świętować ten radosny Jubileusz w jedności i pojednaniu. BOŻE BŁOGOSŁAW POLSKĘ A Prayer for Veterans: for the Men and Women in Uniform Dear God, We thank you for the freedom you have given to us, and for the price that was paid by Christ so that we could live free. We remember today. The cost of it all. The great sacrifice for freedom. We thank you for the brave who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. We ask for your covering and blessing over them and their families. We pray that you would be gracious and encircle them with your peace. We pray for your great favor and goodness to be evident in their lives. Please be with the men and women in uniform, who serve our communities and nation every single day. We ask that you provide your protection, that you would be their guiding force who leads the way, and their rear guard who keeps them safe from behind. We ask that you would draw them to yourself amidst the dangers they face in a dark world, for you are the Truth, you are the Way, you are the Light. When the voice of hate rises up against them, we ask that you would silence it. When the plans of the enemy rise up to cause them to stumble, we ask that you would thwart it. When the forces of evil rise up to strike them down, we ask that you would stop it. Lord, we know how powerful you are, all have heard of your Great Name, and we ask that you would indeed be the wind beneath their wings, the power behind their efforts, the heart behind their service, as they are on the front lines against evil in our world today. Help them to walk wisely. To stay covered in your armor. Give them godly discernment. Make them constantly aware of what lurks close by. Help them to be men and women of prayer, realizing that this is where their greatest help comes from. Help them to stay united and strong, bold and resolute, determined and unwavering. Lord bless all those who wear the uniform, who serve our cities, our nation, our people. Bless their families. Bless those they love. Give them your great favor, this day, and every day. Thank you that in our nation today, we are free to worship. We are free to pray. We are free to read your Word. We are free to speak. We are free to share. For this, we are incredibly grateful. Yet, we understand how quickly these freedoms can be taken away. Give us an increased awareness of the spiritual battle we're in. Help us to stand strong in you and for your purposes. Thank you that as believers, we can be assured, you never leave us, and you are with us always, in this life, and the next. In the Powerful Name of Jesus, Amen. We honor you today Veterans, and all those who wear the uniform, as we pray...and give thanks...and remember. The Lord bless you greatly for your service and sacrifice. And may God bless America!
