1 Focus on October 2014 Europe Investment attractiveness Outsourcing in Bydgoszcz dates back to 1966 when the first investors arrived at the city. The following 60 years marked increasing investments, primarily in the IT sector. The outsourcing industry reported the largest growth in 2001 as well as Poland The city is located in the Warsaw - Poznań - Trójmiasto triangle and as such is a convenient location for the development of outsourcing, modern services for business and R&D companies. The investment qualities of the city have been appreciated by companies such as Atos (more than 2300 staff, Alcatel-Lucent (800 staff) or SDL (300 staff). And these are only selected examples from a group of nearly 40 hubs which operate out of Bydgoszcz. Besides foreign investors the city is also appreciated by Polish business. It is in Bydgoszcz that PZU, Bank Pocztowy or ZETO have set up their hubs. Outsourcing sector development is closely related to the availability of staff. Bydgoszcz universities churn out nearly 12,500 graduates every year, and the most popular courses include IT, finance and accounting as well as foreign languages. The /SSC and IT sectors are key for the city in terms of growth. To ensure professional support for the growing sector the city established the Bydgoszcz Regional Development Agency, which, for almost a year now, has been looking after economic promotion of Bydgoszcz as well as investment and post-investment chaperoning of /SSC sector companies. Unemployment in Bydgoszcz is at 8 per cent and more than a million people living within a 50 km radius have access to the local job market.
