MNT ERA-NET 2010 Chitosan-Nanofunctionalised Cellulose for Biomedical Applications, Acronym: CHITO-CELL, Coordinator: University Maribor Develop a new medical tampon for gynaecological use by functionalization of cellulose based tampon surface or its bulk with chitosan nanoparticles/nanocapsules (as an antimicrobial agent and/or drug delivery system). 3. MATERA Advanced Cellulose Materiale, Acronym: AdvanCellMat, Coordinator: University Maribor New fibrous cellulose hygienic and medical products using nano-modified polysaccharides that will introduce special physico-chemical (hydration, adhesion etc.) and bioactive (antibacterial and antimycotic) properties to cellulose substrates.

OTHER ACTIVITY POLISH CHITIN SOCIETY IBChF is seat of the Society Member Of European Chitin Society FIBRES & TEXTILES IN EASTERN EUROPE, A scientific English language quarterly edited from 1993 r. Since 1999 r. inserted in the ISI Philadelphia Master Journal List. indexed by their data bases including the Material Science Citation Index. Since 2002 the journal has an impact factor, and at present is one of only three world journals on the ISI-list devoted to fibre and textiles. Mikrobiologiczne wykonuje badania działania antybakteryjnego tekstyliów i wyrobów włókienniczych oraz działania antygrzybiczego wyrobów włókienniczych. Lab. Biodegradacji wykonuje badania biodegradacji materiałów polimerowych i wyrobów włókienniczych w środowisku wodnym, kompostowym i glebowym. Lab. Jakości Papieru posiada certyfikat Nr AB 065, świadczy usługi w zakresie badań surowców, półproduktów, wytworów i przetworów papierowych. Lab. Ochrony Środowiska posiada certyfikat Nr AB 551, świadczy usługi pomiarowe i analityczne z dziedziny ochrony środowiska. Zespół Biomateriałów, Zespół Biotechnologii Polimerów i Włókien oraz Laboratorium Fizykochemiczne wykonują badania z zachowaniem Dobrej Praktyki Laboratoryjnej OECD.
