As we come to the end of October, we celebrate the Feast of All Hallow s Eve. Once people dressed like saints and went begging for alms for the poor. It was a vigil in anticipation of the Feast of All Saints. Now we give children in ghostly costumes candy. On the Feast of All Saints, we remember those who have lived lives of holiness and have been named by our church to be Saints. Many of these people were just like us, ordinary folks who did extraordinary things in Jesus name. On November 2nd, we remember those from our families and friends who have gone before us marked with the sign of peace, on the Feast of All Souls. Our tradition is to place an envelope with the names of those who have died and a donation for these poor souls to be remembered each week at the Mass with the intention for the Purgatorial Society. We will have a book by our Baptismal font where you can also place the names of those who have died this past year so that during the coming month of November we can remember them in prayer. ALL SOULS DAY MASS SCHEDULE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 2 7:00 AM POLISH 8:00 AM ENGLISH 6:30 PM POLISH 8:00 PM SPANISH Our Guadalupana Society will decorate an Altar of the Dead with the traditional Mexican symbols for this weekend. They prepare a feast which includes favorite foods of their dead loved ones. The sugar skulls are placed as a reminder of our immortality. There are also pictures of the loved ones who have died and flowers. This is a time to HELP WANTED St. Bruno Parish has a new websitewww.stbrunochicago.org. We wish to make this a vital part of our parish community, providing important news and details for all parishioners as well as all visitors to the site. However, we will need help to make certain that our web site is the best it can be. We are looking for someone who can volunteer a few hours each month to update and expand our web site. If you have any experience with web design or webmaster and can help or offer suggestions, please contact Fr. Antoni at the rectory. A day to focus on celebrating the priests who serve us so faithfully. Make the time to reach out in a special and affirming way and do something to acknowledge priests who provide service, education, spiritual guidance and love as a daily gift.

SCHOOL NEWS...From the Principal, Mrs. McDermott This past week we have been celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week serves as a way for communities and individuals to take a stand against drugs. We opened with Police Officer Jaros giving a talk to 4th -8th grade students about peer pressure and the dangers involved with taking any type of drug. We held an all-school Prayer Service to honor the sacrifices made by those who oppose drugs and to remember those who have died because of drug abuse and other addictions. The students wore either stickers or red ribbons to demonstrate their pledge to lead drug-free lives. Other activities included a poetry and art contest, students and staff wearing red, and all classes lining up in the playground to form the words No Drugs for a school picture. During technology classes younger students visited the mcgruff.com website to play interactive games and read stories about staying safe in our community. Students also received red lollipops. Red Ribbon Week is a CALL TO ACTION! It is the kick off to a year of prevention in our school and in our community. Od Dyrektorki Szkoły Pani McDermott W ostatnim tygodniu celebrowaliśmy Tydzień Czerwonej Wstążki. Czerwona Wstążka jest drogą do przekazywania informacji o narkotykach zarówno indywidualnym uczniom jak i całej Wspólnocie. Razem z Oficerem Policji Panem Jarosem otworzyliśmy spotkanie z klasami od 4 do 8. Pan Jaros przestrzegał o zagrożeniu jakie kryją się w narkotykach. Mieliśmy też servis modlitewny aby uczcić tych którzy ofiarowali swoje życie aby sprzeciwić się rozprowadzaniu narkotyków. Uczniowie mieli nalepki albo czerwone wstążki aby demonstrować drogę przeciwko używaniu narkotyków. W czasie spotkania mieliśmy też grupę artystów, którzy przedstawili poezje i dzieła artystyczne. Młodzi uczniowie odwiedzali stronę internetową mcgruff.com aby usłyszeć o interesujących scenach dotyczących niebezpieczeństwa narkotyków w naszym regionie. Tydzień Czerwonych Wstążek jest dobrą akcją. To jest początek dobrej akcji przeciw narkotykom w naszej Szkole i w naszyej Wspólnocie. De la directora, la señora McDermott Esta semana pasada hemos estado celebrando la Semana del Listón Rojo. Semana del Listón Rojo sirve como una manera para que las comunidades y las personas a adoptar una postura contra las drogas. Abrimos con el oficial de policía Jaros dar una charla a estudiantes de los grados cuarto a octavo acerca de la presión y los peligros que conlleva tomar cualquier tipo de droga. Llevamos a cabo una oración de toda la escuela de servicio para honrar los sacrificios hechos por los que se oponen a las drogas y para recordar a aquellos que han muerto a causa del abuso de drogas y otras adicciones. Reflections from Fr. Emil THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION Only validly ordained priests can preside at the Eucharist and consecrate the bread and the wine so that they become the Body and Blood of the Lord. The essential signs of the Eucharistic sacrament are wheat bread and grape wine, on which the blessing of the Holy Spirit is invoked and the priest pronounces the words of consecration spoken by Jesus during the Last Supper:"This is my body which will be given up for you.. This is the cup of my blood..." By the consecration the transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ is brought about. Under the consecrated species of bread and wine Christ himself, living and glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his divinity. As sacrifice, the Eucharist is also offered in reparation for the sins of the living and the dead and to obtain spiritual or temporal benefits from God. Anyone who desires to receive Christ in Eucharistic communion must be in the state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not receive communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance. Fr. Jeśli ktoś ma świadomość, że popełnił grzech śmiertelny, nie powinien przystępować do Eucharystii bez otrzymania uprzednio rozgrzeszenia w sakramencie pokuty. Ks. Por la consegracion se realiza la transubstancion del pan y del vino en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Bajo las especies consegradas del pan y del vino, Cristo mismo, vino i gloriosa, esta presente de manera verdadera, real y substacial con su Cuerpo, con su Sangre, su alma y su divinidad". En cuanto sacrificio, la Eucaristia es ofrecida tambien en reperacion de los pecados de los vivos y los difuntos, y para obtener de Dios beneficios espirituales o temporales. El que quiere recibir a Cristo en la Comunion eucaristica debe hallarse en estado de gracia.
