The season has been flying by with numerous seasonal services and concerts. It d be great to see as many people at the services as at the concerts! Imagine 700 hundred people here last Saturday evening in that horrible weather! The past week was also busy with finalizing the deliveries of flowers and pick-ups of trees. Even the choirs held special rehearsals to brush up on their Christmas music. Everything will soon be in place for that special, holy night! During all this hustle and bustle we still found a few in our parish family who jumped the gun and got to see Jesus a little earlier than they could have imagined. The three women who died this past week joined all our relatives and friends who already enjoy God s presence in that special way. I m sharing this following anonymous poem in their memory I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below With tiny lights like heaven s stars reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear, For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year! I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear But the sound of music can t compare with the choir up here! I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring, For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing. I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart I am not that far away, we re really not apart! So, be happy for me dear ones, you know I hold you dear, And be glad I m spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year. I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above I send you each a memory of my undying love. After all, love is the gift, more precious than gold, It was always most important in the stories Jesus told. Please love and keep each other, as our Father said to do, For I cannot count the blessings or the love He has for you! So have a Merry Christmas, and wipe away that tear, Remember, I m spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year! (author unknown)...we pray that they are already there. PASTORAL MESSAGE DECEMBER 14, GRUDNIA 2008 Common-Unity Often it takes a common danger or disaster to bring people close to one another. People live as neighbors and yet do not know each other, until a tragedy in the area occurs. Then they get together, shoulder to shoulder and discover they belong to the same human family. Then they begin to recognize each other, appreciate each other, become loyal comrades and encounter one another. They begin to learn that happiness is not rooted in material possessions, but in sincere and warm human relationships. Often our own self-interests can alienate and isolate us from others. Friendship sets us free. Jesus taught us this at the Last Supper at the Paschal Meal, and reminds us of that at every Eucharistic Liturgy we attend. He reiterated this notion by saying that I am the vine, you are the branches. We know that apart from him we can do nothing, but wither and die. People need a supportive community; there is a lot of loneliness in the world today. People who need people, as the song goes, are the luckiest people in the world. People wish to be acknowledged, accepted and appreciated simply for sharing the dignity of human beings. It must be noted that there is no such thing as a solitary Christian existing by oneself. Nowhere is this more true than in the church at the liturgy. Some people ask, Why should I go to church? Why can t I just worship God in my own way? Isn t religion about my personal relationship with God? As Father Flor McCarthy explains: From the earliest times, following Jesus was never just a private, personal matter. Christians came together to live in community, to profess their faith in Jesus Christ, to witness to his resurrection, and live by his teachings. The profound reason for this is given to us by Christ himself, when he said, I am the vine, you are the branches. The vine and the branches are one. There is a mutual interdependence of branch and vine, and branch with branch. To say, I will follow Jesus but not the Church, is to separate Jesus from the Church, to cut off the branches from the vine. We ought to establish and maintain the same connectedness with Jesus as did the first disciples. You and I receive the same resurrected Christ, listen to his voice in the gospels, and witness his love in the community of our brothers and sisters. The celebration of Christmas is a celebration of the family and church community. Each needs the other for support. We begin our celebration by approaching the Baby Jesus in the Nativity scene. Then, hopefully continue our spiritual journey with Jesus through the church year until we escort him into Jerusalem where he is put to death and then celebrate his glorious resurrection on the third day. What this all means is that our connection with Jesus must firm and permanent especially, at Mass attendance every weekend and not simply on the two celebrations of Christmas and Easter. Our attachment as branches to Jesus the Vine is never part-time - it s always and full-time. It continues into eternity. Let the celebration of Christmas help us to unite with Jesus as church and as family. Christmas is the exchanging and sharing of God s love and peace with one another always and everywhere. Fr. Len Radujcie się! Ewangelia, którą Kościół przeznaczył na dzisiejszą niedzielę, stawia nam św. Jana Chrzciciela przed oczy. Zbawienie, pokój i radość. Coraz bliżej do Bożego Narodzenia. Placyd

COMMUNITY NEWS DECEMBER 14, GRUDNIA 2008 Tuesday, December 9th our Elementary School presented a special Christmas gift to their parents and the parishioners of St. Stanislaus. Thank you to all who participated and special thanks to our Music Teacher Ms. Rebecca Norton. ST. STAN S HISTORICAL FACT by Rob Jagelewski. Father Anton Kolaszewski was a towering figure in the history of our Parish. Father Kolaszewski envisioned the building of our present church and carried through with the building of the church from 1886 1891. The church was built for the cost of $250,000. Father Kolaszewski accrued a debt in the building of the church some of which he hid from the Diocese. He had problems with Bishop Ignatius Horstman. This eventually led to his resignation as Pastor in 1892. He was succeeded by Father Benedict Rosinski. Father Kolaszewski traveled to Syracuse, New York and became involved with the Polish National Church. He returned to Cleveland in 1894 without Bishop Horstman s permission and built Immaculate Heart of Mary, as a Polish National church. Father Kolaszewski was excommunicated from the Catholic Church. All Parishioners of our Parish, who followed Father Kolaszewski to Immaculate Heart of Mary were excommunicated as well. Father Kolaszewski and the community of Immaculate Heart of Mary were reconciled with Bishop Horstman in 1908. Father Kolaszewski resigned and Father Methodius Kielar OFM from St. Stanislaus was named Administrator of Immaculate Heart of Mary. Despite the involvement in the schism of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Father Kolaszewski is still a very important historical figure for us. He also established Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish to relieve overcrowding at St. Stanislaus. Slavic Village Holiday Harvest Market Foods & Crafts Festival...
