From the Pastor s Desk The Revised Translation of the Mass (Part I)... This year there will be some changes in some of the responses and prayers of the Mass in English. This will apply only to the English translation of the Mass. Basically the purpose of these changes is to render a more faithful translation of the Latin language Mass which is the standard for the entire world. So, to prepare ourselves for this, the next From The Desk of The Pastor will be devoted to an explanation of what will occur in 2011. The information is from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops In 1970, the Latin text of the reformed Mass after the Second Vatican Council was translated into various languages for use around the world. The English edition was published in the United States in 1973. The Holy See issued a revised text in 1975. Pope John Paul II promulgated the third edition of the Missale Romanum as part of the Jubilee Year in 2000. Among other things, the third edition contains prayers for the celebration of recently canonized saints, additional prefaces for the Eucharistic Prayers, additional Masses and Prayers for Various Needs and Intentions, and some updated and revised rubrics (instructions) for the celebration of the Mass. To aid the process of translation of the third edition, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments issued a fifth instruction on the translation of the Mass in 2001, which outlines the principles and rules for translation. In 2007, the Congregation for Divine Worship issued specific rules for translation in English. Fr. Reflections from Fr. Emil... MISSION - A REQUIREMENT OF THE CHURCH'S CATHOLICITY The missionary mandate. Having been divinely sent to the nations that she might be the universal sacrament of salvation the Church, in obedience to the command of her founder and because it is demanded by her own essential universality, strives to preach the Gospel to all men. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" Mt 28,19 The origin and purpose of mission. The Lord's missionary mandate is ultimately grounded in the eternal love of the Most Holy Trinity. "The Church on earth is by her nature missionary since, according to the plan of the Father, she has as her origin the mission of the Son and the Holy Spirit. The ultimate purpose of mission is none other than to make men share in the communion between the Father and the Son in their Spirit of love. Missionary motivation. It is from God's love for all men that the Church in every age receives both the obligation and the vigor of her missionary dynamism, for the love of Christ urges us on. Indeed, God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, that is God wills the salvation of everyone through the knowledge of the truth. Salvation is found in the truth. Those who obey the prompting of the Spirit of truth are already on the way of salvation. But the Church, to whom this truth has been entrusted, must go out to meet their desire, so as to bring them the truth. Because she believes in God's universal plan of salvation, the Church must be missionary. Missionary paths. The Holy Spirit is the protagonist, the principal agent of the whole of the Church's mission. It is he who leads the Church on her missionary paths. The mission continues and, in the course of history, unfolds the mission of Christ, who was sent to evangelize the poor, so the Church, urged on by the Spirit of Christ, must walk the road Christ himself walked, a way of poverty and obedience, of service and self-sacrifice even to death, a death from which he emerged victorious by his resurrection. Od najdawniejszych czasów Kościół czerpie zobowiązanie i zapał misyjny z miłości Boga do wszystkich ludzi; "Albowiem miłość Chrystusa przynagla nas" 2 Kor 5, 14 Istotnie, Bóg pragnie, aby wszyscy ludzie zostali zbawieni i doszli do poznania prawdy. Bóg pragnie zbawienia wszystkich przez poznanie prawdy. Dlatego, że Kościół wierzy w powszechny zamysł zbawienia, musi on być misyjny. Drogi misji. Duch Święty jest rzeczywiście nadrzędnym podmiotem całej misji kościelnej. To On prowadzi Kościół na drogach misji. Kościół trwa nadal i rozwija w ciągu dziejów posłannictwo samego Chrystusa, który został posłany, aby nieść ubogim Dobrą Nowinę, winien kroczyć tą samą drogą, pod działaniem Ducha Chrystusowego, jaką kroczył Chrystus, mianowicie drogą ubóstwa, posłuszeństwa, służby i ofiary z siebie aż do śmierci, z której przez zmartwychwstanie swoje powstał Chrystus zwycięzcą. El fin ultimo de la mision no es otro que hacer participar a los hombres en la comunion que existe entre el Padre y el Hijo en su Espiritu de amor. El motivo de la mision. Del amor de Dios por todos los hombres la Iglesia ha sacado en todo tiempo la obligacion y la fuerza de`su impulso misionero, porque el amor de Cristo nos apremia. Los caminos de la mision. El Espiritu Santo es en verdad el protagonista de toda la mision eclesial. El es quien conduce la Iglesia por los caminos de la mision. Ella continua y desarrolla en el curso de la historia la mision del proprio Cristo, que fue enviado a evangelizar a los pobres, impulsada por el Espiritu Santo, debe avanzar por el mismo camino por el que avanzo Cristo, esto es, el camino de pobreza, la obedencia el servicio y la inmolacion de si mismo hasta la muerte de la que surgio victorioso por su resureccion. Art Class has been alive with creative energy this October. Kindergarten has painted bats using their handprints. 1st and 2nd grades are designing spooky hands and face changing monsters. 3rd and 4th grades are researching and drawing portraits of their Saints to be displayed at the Living Saints Museum next month. 5th grade and junior high are dabbling in paper mache making pumpkins, Calaveras and skeletons for our school family altar that celebrates el Dia de los Muertos. Primero y segundo grados estan diseñando manos espeluzantes y monstruos quienes rostros cambian. Los grados 3º y 4º están investigando y dibujando retratos de sus santos para que se muestren en el "Museo Viviente de Santos" el próximo mes. El 5 º grado y la secundaria están incursionando en papel maché haciendo calabazas, calaveras y esqueletos de nuestro altar de la familia de la escuela que celebra El Día de los Muertos.
