1925-2010 St. Bruno Church Thirty - Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 7, 2010 Prayer for our Veterans Dear Heavenly Father, In every age, You call certain persons to defend the human family from oppression, tyranny, and evil. Since our founding as a nation "conceived in liberty," countless American men and women have stepped forward to defend our country and many others from aggressors, and to liberate those held captive. Today we revere all our veterans: those who rest in honored glory, those who still suffer from the wounds of war, and those who, with us, enjoy the blessing of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. O God, thank You for the selfless sacrifice of these veterans and of their families. Help us to remember them, to pray for them, and to care for them. Please bring all our departed veterans into Your Kingdom, and console their families with Your unfailing love. Please heal our wounded veterans through the power of Your Holy Spirit, and give to all our veterans the satisfaction of having served You even as they have served us. Thank You for Your gifts of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May we fight to keep these rights available to all. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. From the desk of the Pastor...You may have heard of the French mathematician and physicist, Blaise Pascal. He was a child prodigy. While still a teenager, he invent a calculating machine that is considered the earliest forerunner of the modern computer. When Pascal was thirty-one years old, he experienced a profound religious conversion. He realized that God is not only a necessary being who created the universe, but Someone who acts in human history. He wrote these words on a piece of parchment: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. He sewed those words on the inside of his coat and each time they wore away, he replaced them - right up to the time of his death. Those words give a wonderful, powerful insight into God. He is not abstract, somewhere up in the heavens. No, God cares about humans and he acts in our history. When they asked Jesus about the future life, whether the dead rise, he replied with the words addressed to Moses from that small burning tree: "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." That is the basis for our hope of a future life. God cares for us; he acts. Fr. Ale refleksja na ten temat jest nieuchronna, bo każdy musi jakoś uporać się z pytaniem: co dalej, co po mojej śmierci? Odpowiedzi są różne: każda filozofia i religia coś proponuje, mniej lub bardziej prawdopodobnego. Każdy też w coś wierzy.. Człowiek jest istotą nieśmiertelną, chociaż każdy musi umrzeć. Ale śmierć jest tylko pewnym etapem, punktem zwrotnym w dziejach człowieka, który kończy jeden rodzaj egzystencji, a rozpoczyna drugi, nieznany. Tylko jeden jedyny Chrystus definitywnie przeszedł śmierć, zwyciężył ją i wrócił z jej królestwa.. Czego zatem uczy Chrystus? Że na pewno istnieje przyszły świat i powstanie z martwych. A więc ludzkie pragnienie nieśmiertelności nie jest tylko mrzonką i wymysłem marzycieli, lecz faktem Dalej uczy, że śmierć jest faktem bezwzględnie jednorazowym, czyli że teoria reinkarnacji jest sprzeczna z objawieniem Chrystusowym. Każdy człowiek żyje tylko jeden jedyny raz i właśnie to życie decyduje o naszej wieczności. Dlatego jesteśmy w sposób absolutny odpowiedzialni za to, jak to życie wykorzystamy... Po trzecie: życie przyszłe będzie zupełnie inne, niż to obecne. Po zmartwychwstaniu otrzymamy zupełnie inne, nowe życie. Będzie ono całkowicie wolne od doczesnych ograniczeń, trosk, ułomności. SCHOOL NEWS In October, the First Grade students learned about animal families. They grouped animals into 4 groups mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. They read books about these groups, listed their characteristics, made posters, presented a Show and Tell about an animal, and visited Brookfield Zoo where they participated in the class Animal Coverings. During this unit, bats became the student s favorite animal. In a cooperative learning experience the First and Fifth grade students studied bats. They made bats, searched various websites to find interesting facts, and read books together. By the end of the morning, the students gained a new appreciation for this often-misunderstood animal. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ W październiku uczniowie klasy pierwszej dowiedzieli się o zwierzę rodzin. En una experiencia de aprendizaje cooperativa los estudianes del primer y quinto grado estudiaron los murciélagos. Reflections from Fr. Emil THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS After confessing the holy catholic Church, the Apostles Creed adds the communion of saints. In a certain sense this article is a future explanation of the preceding: What is the Church if not the assembly of all the saints?. The communion of saints is the Church. Since all the faithful form one body, the good of each is communicated to the others.. We must therefore believe that there exists a communion of goods in the Church. But the most important member is Christ, since he is the head... Therefore, the riches of Christ are communicated to all the members, through the sacraments. As this Church is governed by one and the same Spirit, all the goods she has received necessarily become a common fund. The term communion of saints therefore has two closely linked meanings: communion in holy things and among holy person. Fr. Emil KOMUNIA ŚWIĘTYCH Po wyznaniu wiary w "święty Kościół powszechny", Symbol Apostolski dodaje "świętych obcowanie" (komunia świętych). Artykuł ten jest w pewnym sensie dalszym ciagiem poprzedniego:"czymże jest Kościół, jak nie zgromadzeniem wszystkich świętych?" Kościół jest właśnie komunią świętych. "Skoro wszyscy wierzący tworzą jedno ciało, dobro jednego jest przekazywane innym... Należy więc wierzyć, że istnieje w Kościele wspólnota dóbr. Najważniejszym członkiem jest jednak Chrystus, ponieważ On jest Głową.. Dlatego dobro Chrystusa jest przekazywane wszystkim członkom, a dokonuje się to przez sakrament Kościoła". Jedność Ducha świętego, który ożywia Kościół i nim kieruje, sprawia, że wszystko to, co Kościół posiada, jest wspólne tym, którzy do niego należą. Pojęcie komunia świetych ma więc dwa znaczenia, ściśle ze sobą powiązane: "komunia w rzeczach świętych i komunia między osobami świętymi". Ks.
