Foreword Public health is the most widely understood eld of disease prevention and strengthening health by creating and monitoring the health conditions. Public health is a social institution and simply means the health of the population. The leitmotiv of the 80 s in the development of the health care system in the world was the recognition of health as a public good rather than individual. Public health covers a wide range of multidisciplinary activities involving various aspects of human health, its protection, the consolidation and improvement, assessment of population health needs and ways of meeting them. It is not only about the health of an individual but also the health of all people and its circumstances, both the negative and the positive or the healthy actions consolidating health. For several years there has been an increased discussion about the role and place of public health in promoting health. This can be associated with the occurrence of a number of social phenomena, the health of the individual and the community having the character of both faiths and risks. Many risks can be reduced or liquidated in the course of proper social policy and actions in public health taking into account the risks to health. For the concept of public health, the starting point is the most accurate possible assessment of population health and the health problem to determine the social dimension. What serve it are data analysis and empirical research, as well as the use of the achievements and methods of other sciences, in order to identify all important factors that shape the measurable level of health. According to many authors of works public health has been a subject of wider interest, regardless of the reasons that are diverse and different in different countries and it is an excellent research topic setting out the directions of research. For the above reasons, there is a need for this monograph which discusses the state of health of the population, medical aspects of public health and public health is in terms of management Scienti c articles presented in this volume illustrate the results of research on public health.
