Hi there: It means the same as Hi - Cześć. 2. Hiya: Hi with You ( Cześć Tobie ). 3. Alright (mate)? Informal greting. Hello with How are you. Something like Polish: Wszystko OK kolego? 4. Ay-up: Hi with Alright? It means the same as that one above. But it is used only in North America. 5. Hey: It came from USA but it s often used in the UK. Hey guys we can say both to girls and boys. Popular phrase is also: Hey, how s it going? ( Hey, jak leci?). 6. Whatcha / What cha: It s like - Alright? ; short form from - What Cheer?. And this is also a short form from What do you do. It s an informal language. 8. Wagwan: It s very informal What s up or What s going on? ( Co słychać / Co się dzieje? ). Popular answer for this question is: nagwan. Yo: This is very informal language - Hi. It comes from America. Paulina Stasiniak page 3

Spotlight get some craziness in your life USLESS KNOWLEDGE (FACTS STRANGE AND FUNNY) We usually celebrate well-known days but there is a wealth of bizarre, unique, special and otherwise different holidays and "days". If you are looking for a wacky day to celebrate in October or November, perhaps you can choose one of mentioned below? wealth of - bogactwo bizarre - dziwaczny otherwise - inaczej wacky - odjazdowy mentioned - wspomniany roots - korzenie thoughts - myśli essential - niezbędny develop - rozwijać bite - gryźć almonds - migdały get in touch - kontaktować się value - wartość healing - uzdrawianie remedy - lekarstwo flu - grypa ail - boleć bet - zakładać się customer - klient objective - cel page 4 Increase Your Psychic Powers Day (Dzień Zwiększania Swoich Mocy Psychicznych) - 31st October appears to have roots in England back to the nineteenth century. Concentrating and clearing your mind of other thoughts, is essential to successfully developing your psychic powers so why not celebrating it? Sandwich Day (Dzień Kanapki) - 3rd November We invite you to bite into your favorite sandwich and to try some new ones. Why not celebrating this special day by eating sandwiches at every meal! PS. Don't forget to wash your hands first. Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day (Dzień Gorzkiej Czekolady z Migdałami) - 7th November Chocolate is a vegetable, made from cocoa beans. Almonds are good for you, as they help to improve your Cholesterol levels. So, bittersweet chocolate with almonds is good and healthy for you, right!? Forget-Me-Not Day (Dzień Nie- Zapomnij-o-Mnie) - 10th November is a day to remember family, friends, and loved ones. People use this day to get in touch with family, friends and loved ones, especially those who they haven't seen for a while. You don't want them to forget you, do you!? Chicken Soup for the Soul Day (Dzień Rosołu, Zupy dla Duszy) - 12th November Take this day as a celebration of the value and healing of chicken soup, especially mom's chicken soul. Chicken soup is still treated as remedy for colds, flus, and just about anything that ails you. You can't find that healing in a can. You can only find it in mom's homemade chicken soup. Button Day (Dzień Guzika) - 16th November is a fun day to collect, use, and just enjoy buttons. Buttons come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors and designs. There is an amazingly endless variety of buttons for your collection. Party With Your Bear Day (Dzień Imprezy z Twoim Pluszowym Misiem) - 16th November Is your Teddy Bear a real "party bear"? Hopefully he is, because today is Have a Party With Your Bear Day. You get to have a party. And, you get to spend time with your Teddy Bear. We bet you can't think of anything that is more fun!! Have a Bad Day Day (Dzień Miej Zły Dzień ) - 19th November Believe it or not, it was created to encourage us to wish people to have a bad day. The intent is to have sales people stop saying to their customers "have a good day", and replace it with "have a bad day". World Hello Day (Dzień Pozdrawiania Świata) - 21st November The objective of World Hello Day is to promote world peace. The theme of this day is "Greet ten people for peace". It is really easy to participate in World Hello Day. Simply, say hello to the people today. Get out on the streets and say "Hello" to at least ten people. based on http://www.holidayinsights.com/ moreholidays/ by Kinga Jurek

2013, No. 6 how to heal Polish football Polish football national team isn t in a good condition recently. Maybe it s because of the coach? Fortunately he has just been changed but obviously the new one, Adam Nawałka, needs some help and I think I can give him some useful advice. There are several propositions how to improve the football team of Poland: 1. Every Pole is a specialist at football so we can make a Facebook questionnaire where each person who was born in Poland can vote for his or her favorite players. It would be a serious thing so there is no chance to make our team worse than it is (is it possible?) 2. Or, as every Pole knows how to play, let s make a football team as it is advised in Biedronka commercial. 3. Polish team isn t strong enough. They run for 15-20 minutes and they re exhausted. Mr. Nawałka should organize more trainings for strength. 4. We can also import some footballers from the countries where this game isn t known, learn them how to kick the ball and win the World Cup in the future (personally I think it s the easiest and most effective way) 5. Our players shouldn t take money for lost matches. They have to have the right motivation. Go to work guys! Either you play or you starve! 6. Maybe Mr. Nawałka should take them to the theatre (or to match of FC Barca)? If they learn how to act, there is a chance the rivals will commit more faults (although it s almost impossible) 7. Let s talk about goalkeepers now. What about changing a goalkeeper? For whom? Hmmm, the Brazilian massagist, Romildo Fonseca da Silva would be quite a good choice. 8. Maybe we ought to build a national stadium in Częstochowa? It s very close to our Black Madonna and we really need a miracle 9. Mr. Nawałka can also talk to Louis Armstrong. He could tell him his recipe for a potion of success or better not. 10. But we can try to take our football players to the match of the Polish rugby team. Maybe there they will learn how to play as a team. These are just a few of my propositions. I think some of them can be really effective. Kamil Kolasa MEN S WORLD obviously - oczywiście advice - radzić improve - usprawnić Pole - Polak / Polka questionnaire - ankieta vote - głosować chance - szansa commercial - reklama exhausted - wykończony strength - siła starve - głodować commit faults - popełniać błędy massagist - masażysta recipe - przepis potion - eliksir firsthand - bezpośrednio plaster - gips crutches - kule compassion - współczucie life with broken leg People usually learn new things experiencing them firsthand. That is how I got to know about some cool things you can do when you have a leg in plaster. Here we go: 1. Kicking someone with it (hurts much more than without). 2. Jumping with crutches. 3. Lying all day in bed. 4. Continuously playing on the computer. 5. Lying in bed while everybody around is doing what you want (sometimes). 6. Enjoying the girls company during breaks between lessons (they are full of compassion to you). 7. Not answering in front of the blackboard. 8. Not carrying the schoolbag (others are doing that for you). Mateusz Jurek page 5

Can you imagine that? We were really happy, when we finally reached the place. What were we doing there? Well, we had some activities with volunteers; they led some really interesting workshops with us, they were telling us about their countries, or about their work ^^ We met there people from Turkey, Romania, Azerbaijan, France, England, Serbia, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, Italy, Georgia, but also Kenya, Nepal, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. We liked them all a lot:) They always had a smile on their faces, and a lot of energy to work with us. And believe us, we worked really hard as we had to speak English all the time. Even during the discos, or when we were playing handball, the volunteers were always somewhere close to us :) Last day of the camp was horrible. It was so hard for us to say goodbye to all the people there. One of them, great and handsome Turkish man went with us to Wrocław next day. Sightseeing the city with Emir was something unexpected. It was like the icing on the cake. And we have to admit, he knew the city really well. He was the best guide we could get. Unfortunately, after that we had to say goodbye also to him:( But we really enjoyed these days with all these wonderful people:) And we want to say THANK YOU to Mrs. Berdys, and Mrs. Malinowska they always helped us when we needed it, and made these days even more cool :D Alina Pielaszkiewicz & Kinga Michałek

2013, No. 6 Poland, white and red! The day that we have been waiting for few long weeks. On Sunday our great PE teachers took us for a handball mach. But not ordinary one - we went to Lublin to see our Polish national women handball team in action against the Chech players. We all wore white t-shirts (like white colour on our flag ). We also had special scarfs, flags, caps, glasses and trumpets, all the needed fans stuff. We painted our faces in national colours too :) Can you imagine the group of around 60 people looking like that?:) From the beginning of the match till the end we believed that our team would win. But unfortunately it didn t happen. Girls were really close to become the winners. There were some moments, when they had 4 goals more than Chech Republic. But finally they lost the match with the result 19:22. Polish team and their fans were really disappointed. It was hard for all of us, but especially for the players because they knew that we counted on them. That is why we thought that they wouldn t appear on a court to give autographs. So most of us just went to the bus. But some (in fact one person), who really wanted to take a photo with the players, full of hope, decided to wait (even if her teachers weren t very happy about that). And it was worth! They managed, they came there! We ve got the autographs (painted with a lipstick, because we lost the pen) and after that we could go back home. Oliwia Berdys handball - piłka ręczna scarfs - szaliki trumpets - trąbki stuff - rzeczy dissapointed - rozczarowany count on - liczyć na appear - pojawiać się manage - zdołać lipstic - szminka page 11
