Page Four PRESCHOOL NEWS Our preschoolers are constantly on the move and learning new things every day. We just finished a Religion unit entitled God Gives Us Families. We talked about Jesus and His family as well as our own families. The children listened to a story about families and each child decorated a heart with a poem for their family. We sang songs and thanked God for our wonderful families. The children are now busy getting ready for Valentine s Day. We made decorations for our homes and made Valentine s for our families. In school we will exchange Valentine cards with our classmates. KINDERGARTEN JANUARY, 2015 Our children came back after Christmas break excited that we are getting near our 100th day of school. They have been counting to 100 by ones, twos, fives and tens. We will celebrate our 100th day of school on Monday, February 9, 2015. On this day we will do a lot of things that are centered around 100. January was a busy month for everyone. We worked hard getting things prepared for Catholic School week so we would have a lot of our work to share with those who came to the Open House. Our Multicultural Day was fun. We had several countries represented and several children wore things from their heritage countries. We had a lot of fun making Valentines with our eighth grade buddies to give to the VA Hospital and Nursing Home. We enjoyed the Pep rally. We had a really good time at the action packed afternoon and puppet show put on by the Wisniowski s. School Stations of the Cross St. William During Lent, we will be going to Church as a school family on Friday afternoons from February 20 th to March 27 th. The students will be attending Stations of the Cross every Friday at 2:30pm. The students will reenter the school, after stations, to pick up their backpacks from the Sayre door vestibule and will be dismissed through the parking lot doors, as usual. You are welcome to park in the large lot and join us in Church. Hope to see you there! ST. St. William Church 40 Offerings of Lent As Lent approaches each year, our minds turn to, what will we do; what will we give up? Instead of only giving up, why not put something in something that will take hold. Make this Lent more meaningful for the whole family. Join our fellow parishioners in our 2015 Lenten Journey, 40 Offerings of Lent. from February 18 April 4. This is an opportunity for adults and children together to grow in their understanding of the three disciplines of Lent: prayer, almsgiving, and fasting. The 40 Offerings of Lent will be a parish-wide ministry to collect food or other offerings that will benefit parishioners as well neighboring food pantries and outreach programs. An offering a day whether spiritual or almsgiving will fulfill your 40 day Journey. Almsgiving donations will be accepted weekly. Donations can be placed in the boxes located around the altar and will be accepted before or after Masses. Coming in future bulletin: JOURNEY calendar. LENTEN REGULATIONS Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted.
