We continue to honor this tradition. The next First Friday Mass will be: July 3 at 8:15 a.m. Confessions will be heard from 7:30 am until 8:00 am. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place immediately following the 8:15 a.m. Mass. We will pray the Litany of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus for new and holy vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. Jesus Promises to Those Who Keep This Devotion 1. I will give them all the graces necessary. 2. I will establish peace in their families. 3. I will console them in all their troubles. 4. My Sacred Heart will provide a refuge. 5. 4 LIPCA DZIEŃ IEPODLEGŁOŚCI Dzień iepodległości (Independence Day) to najważniejsze amerykańskie święto państwowe co roku uroczyście obchodzone w rocznicę ogłoszenia Deklaracji Niepodległości Stanów Zjednoczonych od Wielkiej Brytanii, które nastąpiło 4 lipca 1776 roku. Data ta uważana jest za dzień narodzin Stanów Zjednoczonych. Święto nieoficjalnie obchodzono już od 1777 roku, jednak dopiero w 1870 roku Kongres Stanów Zjednoczonych oficjalnie ustanowił 4 lipca dniem wolnym od pracy. Rozpoczęta w 1775 roku wojna o niepodległość 13 brytyjskich kolonii była skutkiem narastania konfliktu między kolonistami a metropolią. Naczelne dowództwo powierzono delegatowi z Wirginii Jerzemu Waszyngtonowi. Sygnatariuszami ogłoszonej Deklaracji Niepodległości byli: Thomas Jefferson, John Adams i Benjamin Franklin, którzy zostali nazwani przez kolonistów ojcami-założycielami. Deklaracja głosiła prawo do ustanawiania wszelkich aktów państwowych, wypowiadania wojny oraz zawierania pokoju przez dawne kolonie angielskie w Ameryce Północnej. Była pierwszym oficjalnym oświadczeniem na temat tego, czym powinien być rząd. Miała charakter uniwersalny, była czymś więcej niż prywatnym przesłaniem skierowanym do Wielkiej Brytanii, był to apel do całej ludzkości. Opinia publiczna w Europie z życzliwością śledziła walkę Amerykanów. Przejawem tego zainteresowania był napływ do amerykańskiej armii ochotników z Europy, wśród których znaleźli się Tadeusz Kościuszko i Kazimierz Pułaski. O ostatecznym zwycięstwie zadecydowało wsparcie, jakiego udzieliły Amerykanom państwa europejskie zainteresowane osłabieniem Anglii. Wojnę zakończył zawarty w 1783 roku pokój w Wersalu, na mocy którego Korona Brytyjska uznała suwerenność amerykańskich kolonii. Uroczystości związane z Fourth of July odbywają się głównie na świeżym powietrzu. W całym kraju organizowane są liczne parady, festyny, koncerty i mecze baseballowe. Tradycją są również przemówienia o tematyce patriotycznej wygłaszane przez polityków i urzędników państwowych. Prezydent USA spotyka się z weteranami i ich rodzinami. Amerykanie spędzają Dzień Niepodległości na wspólnym grillowaniu, spotkaniach z bliskimi czy zabawie w wesołym miasteczku. Po zmierzchu w większości dużych miast odbywają się pokazy fajerwerków.
