1925-2010 St. Bruno Church Thirty - Third Sunday in Ordinary Time November 14, 2010 ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO Dear People of God: I will never forget you, my people. I have carved you on the palm of my hand. I will never forget you because... I will never forget my own. -Isaiah 49 These powerful, heart-felt words eloquently spoken so long ago by Isaiah constantly echo within me. The prophet's profound words aptly express my sentiments as I quietly ponder the roads now leading to San Antonio, which as we know well, are far away from Vicariate V. It has been the privilege of my lifetime to minister among you and for you. I have truly loved each day of the past seven years of my time here in the Church of Chicago. In my initial gathering of Vicariate V when I first met representatives from every parish and institution of our faith, I spoke of my hopes and dreams for unity. I asked that unity in Christ and unity for the Church would transcend all that could threaten or separate us. For that vision, you have given far more than I ever asked or imagined! Though the distance from Chicago to San Antonio is far, the space between our hearts and prayers is close. I humbly ask a remembrance in your prayers and promise to remember you in my prayers. From the desk of the Pastor...Today's readings speak about hope. We need the virtue of hope, especially this time of year. All around us we see the dying of nature and it reminds us of our own inevitable death - and the end of the world. In face of death, what hope do you and I have?. We can see the virtue of hope at work in our Bible readings. After describing the coming crisis, Jesus says, "by your perseverance you will secure your lives.". Hope leads to perseverance, the endurance by which a person saves his soul... St. Paul exemplifies the perseverance that flows from the virtue of hope. He tells us that he "worked day and night." He dedicated every moment to God. Whatever he did, day or night, he dedicated to God. St. Paul had a firm hope, centered in his will - by the grace of God. As we see in the life of Paul, hope makes Stewardship possible - it enabled him to dedicate all to God. The virtue of hope enables one to persevere until the end, to dedicate all to God. Fr. Jezus na kilka dni przed swą śmiercią krzyżową przestrzega przed fałszywymi mesjaszami i fałszywymi prorokami. Strzeżcie się, żeby was nie zwiedziono. Wielu bowiem przyjdzie pod moim imieniem i będą mówić: "Ja jestem" oraz "nadszedł czas". Nie chodźcie za nimi. Fałszywi prorocy istnieć będą zawsze. Mnożą się raz po lewej, raz po prawej stronie. Wszyscy mają wspólne cechy - są pewni siebie i przypisują sobie charyzmat nieomylności. Pociągają naiwnych. Przebudzenie bywa okrutne, kiedy okazuje się, że było to po prostu oszustwo, a zbudowane na nim życie nieprawdziwe. Strzeżcie się, by was nie zwiedziono. Ks. Podemos ver la virtud de esperanza en nuestras lecturas biblicas. Despues de describir la crisis que viene, Jesus dice, "Si se mantienen firmes, conseguiran la vida." Esperanza conduce a la perseverancia que se salva el alma (la vida).. San Pablo ejemplifica la perseverancia que viene de la virtud de esperanza. Nos dice, "de dia y de noche trabaje." No significa que era un adicto al trabajo, sino que dedico todo momento a Dios: caminando por un sendero romano, viajando por barco, conversando toda la noche, estudiando la Biblia, participando en la Eucaristia, escribiendo cartas y haciendo carpas. Lo que hizo, dia y noche, lo dedico a Dios.. San Pablo tenia una esperanza firme, centrada en la voluntad - por la gracia de Dios. Como podemos ver en la vida de Pablo, esperanza hace posible la Co-Responsabilidad. Les invito rezar por esa virtud. No es una emocion vaga, sino una virtud centrada en la voluntad. COMMUNION IN SPIRITUAL GOODS In the primitive community of Jerusalem, the disciples devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of the bread and prayers. Communion in the faith. The faith of the faithful is the faith of the Church, received from the apostles. Faith is a treasure of life which is enriched by being shared. Communion of the sacraments. The fruit of all the sacraments belongs to all the faithful. All the sacraments are sacred links uniting the faithful with one another and binding them to Jesus Christ, and above all Baptism, the gate by which we enter into the Church. The communion of saints must be understood as the communion of the sacraments. The name communion can be applied to all of them, for they unite us to God. But this name is better suited to the Eucharist than to any other, because it is primarily the Eucharist that brings this communion about. Fr. Przede wszystkim chrzest jest jakby bramą, przez którą wchodzi się do Kościoła, i więzią jedności. Komunia świętych jest komunią sakramentów. Pojęcie komunii może być stosowane do każdego z nich ponieważ każdy z nich jednoczy nas z Bogiem. Monday, November 1 st, St. Bruno students celebrated All Saints Day. Mass was celebrated as the 3 rd and 4 th grade students dressed as a saint and shared information with the congregation remembering and honoring many saints devotion to their faith. Following mass, the 3 rd and 4 th grade saints presented a Living Saint Museum to the entire school, faculty and parents. It truly was a blessed and holy day. W poniedziałek 1 listopada, nasza Szkoła św. Brunona celebrowała dzień Wszystkich Świętych. W czasie Mszy świętej szkolnej, dzieci z klas trzecich i czwartych były ubrane w różne stroje przedstawiające świętych. Uczniowie przedstawili wobec zgromadzonych wiernych, wielu świętych szczególnie ich pobożność i wyznanie wiary.następnie po Mszy świętej uczniowie z klas trzecich i czwartych przedstawili Muzeum Żywych Świętych, dla Rodziców, Nauczycieli i całej Szkoły. To był prawdziwie błogosławiony i święty dzień. Este Lunes, 1 de Noviembre, Los estudiantes de San Bruno celebraron el Día de los Santos. La misa fue celebrada con los estudiantes de 3 º y 4 º grado vistiendose como santos y compartieron información con la congregación, recordando y riendiendo homenaje a la devoción de la fe de sus santos. Despues de la misa, los estudiantes del 3 º y 4 º grado presentaron un museo sobre "Los Santos Vivientes" a la escuela toda la facultad y los padres. Realmente fue un día bendito y santo.
