Każde z kąta świata, to poszukiwanie miejsca idealnego. Dom to wielka integrująca siła w życiu, staje się grupą nawyków, przyzwyczajeń, kształtuje wyobraźnię. Ludzie potrzebują domów, by marzyć, wyobrażać, przypominać sobie. Współdziałanie sztuki i architektury oferują możliwości do prze-projektowania centrów miast - re-destrukcja implikuje re konstrukcję. De generacja może być zmieniona w Re-generację. Pytania do dyskusji Jaką rolę spełnia sztuka publiczna w ekonomicznym rozwoju? Promowanie sztuki w oparciu o historię, architekturę, naukę zgłębi różne aspekty kulturalnego i codziennego życia w małych zapomnianych dzielnicach. Takie wydarzenia eksponują postępujący wgląd w re-konstrukcję narodowej i lokalnej tożsamości poprzez odkrywanie i re-afirmację historycznych miejsc, zapomnianych jak dotąd. ART DISTRICT - THE PROMOTION OF INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION IN FORGOTTEN DISTRICTS OF POZNAN: SRODKA from 20 th October 2006 to 28 th October 2006 Re: GENERATION The real regeneration is the regeneration of local people minds, souls and hearts. InterCity Association (www.intercityarts.com), Polish Ministry of Art and Heritage and Poznan City Council, students of VIII Atelier of Drawing Cathedral Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan and other agencies and organizations with an interest in the town discuss how forgotten and poor areas should and could become better places, which could be turned in to a brighter and inspirational town, dedicated to improving the neighborhood. Public/ Social/ Private Is space neutral? Even if space is empty, it s never indifferent. Uninhabited space has its own histories and stories. An environment inspirits with its possibilities (or impossibilities) for crossing borders, physical and mental limits. Each corner from corners of the world is a search of an ideal place. A home is a great strength in life, becomes a group of habits, customs, creates an imagination. People need homes to dream, imagine, and to remember. Home is a shelter. All secrets of a space are examined by Gaston Bachelard in The Poetics of Space, they are vessels for the imagination and space for the soul. Project focuses on work dedicated in a particular kind of space social space and public art. Architecture - Urban Programs of regeneration must be focused on urban re-development and suggestions. Diversity of art and architecture offer opportunities to re-design city centers, re-destruction may have to precede re-construction. De-generation can be converted into Re-Generation. Questions for discussion What role, if any, the public art does in economic development? What arguments are put forward about the relationship between public art and urban regeneration? What values can be found in a process of turning de-generated areas into Re generated centers through art, public art, and urban, and architectural diversity? Show Spaces There are no professional art galleries in Srodka, so we used unusual places for the show, places like a staircase of XX century house (10/11 Ostrowek Str.). Large multimedia projections appeared on buildings around the square. We inviteded to cooperate the local Malta cinema and the local antique bookshop The Room With a View. Art works, banners appeared on walls and fences. We are going to promote Art District of Srodka through art, so it can become an idea of free thought, kind of Hide Park of Poznan. We set a competition between artists and students for a flag, through which convictions can manifested, although with caring for the most intellectual quality. EPILOUGE The exhibition gives opportunity to express the collective and individual achievements of locality. Events deal with history, science, and architecture through a promotion of art and explores various aspects of cultural and everyday life at small forgotten areas. Such event exposes progressive view of re-construct national and local identity through the exploration and re-affirmation of historical areas, although forgotten so far. B STUVEN bstuven@hotmail.com I like Srodka because it is like a little island within Poznan, a town in miniature. In its centre is a small rock set on the pavement close to Kino Malta. When I saw this stone I immediately wanted to protect it and for people to recognise its importance. I surrounded it with a cage and chained the stone tight with a lock. In this way I captured the heart of Srodka. But the love that people of this area had for their rock was too strong, and within a few days they had removed the cage, stolen the chain and freed the stone from my prison. So once more the heart of Srodka is free for everyone. Untitled (Caged Rock)

OLA ALEKSANDRA KUJAWSKA ola.kujawska@wp.eu 2002 Master Degree in Fine Arts majored in Sculpture and Art Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan (Poland), She took part in many exhibitions in Poland, Germany, South Korea, and Japan. Working on the field of architectural installation, painting and stage design. Lives in Berlin (Germany) and Poznan (Poland). The field of Aleksandra s Kujawska interest is space and architecture it s a form and history, it s meaning and geometry. She is convinced, that an evidence of a human being s condition: architecture gives a special meaning in her artistic creation. A wall erects the contact of inner and outside energy; between nature and irrationality. Geometry, which often is a medium in her art creation, has got a certain kind of silence, which she prefers the most. Geometry is a very fine way of showing aura phenomena, which she brings to an inner space and through this she builds a new reality. And finally, geometry lets to construct such space, which only a human being can create. Crane Mr. Engineer, Thelephone For You, Sir...

TIM MURPHY tim.murphy@talktalk.net tel.: +44 7921864644 Tim Murphy is an artist and curator from London. He has exhibited internationally including Poland, Japan and Spain. By working with an experimental approach to the notion of drawing his work reflects on cultural psychology, often appropriating media languages and methods as a means to explore and re-invent their meaning. He interprets the process of making art as a journey of ideas, often involving accidents and diversions - not unlike that of a shaggy dog story. The objects I make are cartoon-like and don t accurately represent the source. They are without colour or texture ghostly, translucent and unreliable in their physical strength and visual quality. Recreating somewhat banal and insignificant objects (the pipes and skirting in the corner of a room or a teacup) in a time-consuming process draws attention to their everdayness and elevates the ordinary items that feature in our lives. I create these theatrical/animated objects that can t function in reality - devoid of their primary function, that collapse in the real world - hopefully with humour. The Door The Portals
