If I am truly in love with God there is no need to compare myself with others or succumb to jealousy if others appear closer than I or because I have loved longer. Authentic love does not consider benefits or privileges. It simply desires to be in the presence of the One who is loved. God invites all of His children into a relationship with Him. It does not matter when along our life's journey we accept that invitation. It is only important that we do. In our Gospel today, the owner of the vineyard promised the usual daily wage to everyone, regardless of what time each started working. God promises love and Eternal Life to all who enter into relationship with Him. It does not matter when. This is God's pure merciful gift. It is God's to give as God desires. A very warm welcome is extended to all who have come to St. Stanislaus Church to worship this weekend. We are grateful to our parishioners and we welcome our guests who visit us this weekend. Angelic Aviators are waiting to fly into our church! ONLY YOUR DONATIONS to the Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) can land them here!!! The annual CMA Campaign starts the weekend of September 23-24. The theme is Glorifying the Lord by Our Lives. Our parish s assessed goal is $44,536. Your generous donation helps the Diocese to spread the Gospel, educate our children and seminarians, and provide services to those in need and support the work of many other ministries. Each Angel Aviator will be a reminder of your support for doing God s work and living a life that is glorifying the Lord here, in the diocese and throughout the world! October Devotions During the month of October from Tuesday till Friday after the 5:30 p.m. Mass there will be an Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and praying of the Rosary. Please join us. Everyone is welcome!

XXV Sunday in Ordinary Time "Are you envious because I am generous?" The landowner in today's Gospel parable surprised everyone. Contrary to standard practice, he paid all of his laborers the same wage, regardless of how many hours they had worked! Of course this was a very pleasant surprise for those who had begun their job late in the day. And, understandably, it was something of a disappointment for those who had toiled since the morning. From their perspective, they should have gotten more than the others. But in fact the landowner was not cheating anyone; he was simply being especially generous with the latecomers. This story would have had a special meaning for the Jewish audience listening to Jesus. They, the Chosen People, were the laborers who had started at 9:00 am. They belonged to the group with a long history of worshipping the true God. Non-Jewish Gentiles, on the other hand, had appeared late in the game. Jesus was making the point that just because He would offer the same salvation and mercy to everyone, there should be no reason for the Jews to complain. They had received their promised Messiah; so what if, in God's Mercy, He allowed others who had not waited so long to be saved as well? Divine generosity is not meant to be a cause for jealousy. Now, we may feel removed from the concerns of those Jews. But the basic lesson remains relevant: that we ought to appreciate God's generosity, even when it reaches to those whom we may not expect God to forgive. Those who have long been faithful, for example, might think they deserve more benefits than sinners who repent late in life. But instead, we should all rejoice to see God's mercy extended to EVERYONE, no matter when they joined the fold. Why Do We Do That? Catholic Traditions Explained Question: Who is St. Jerome and why is he so significant that we honored him with a feast on September 30? Answer: St. Jerome (345-420) was considered the greatest biblical scholar of his day, conversant with Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. He set about translating the books of the Bible from their original languages into Latin. Much of Jerome's correspondence has survived and gives us a powerful glimpse into the kind of person that he was, as well as the time in which he lived. Jerome eventually became Pope Damasus' (366-384) personal secretary. In the West, Latin was overtaking Greek as the language of the common people. The pope desired a translation of the Bible that would be accurately translated from the original languages into the language and idiom of the people. Previous Latin translations existed, but they were poor in quality. Jerome set about this task and spent the rest of his life meticulously translating. He is credited with the translation of the Bible known as the Vulgate, a Latin translation intended to address the needs of the common people. That translation became the standard and the only one used by Catholics until modern times. Catholics did not actively engage in a similar process until 1943, when Pius XII allowed Catholic scholars once again to go back to the original languages and translate an accurate and meticulous version of the Bible. We carry on that tradition to this very day. The Holy Eucharist How do priests exercise their power to change bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ? Priests exercise their power to change bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ by repeating at the Consecration of the Mass the words of Christ: "This is My Body... this is the Cup of My Blood." Why does Christ give us His own Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist? Christ gives us His own Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist: first, to be offered as a sacrifice commemorating and renewing for all time the sacrifice of the cross; second, to be received by the faithful in Holy Communion; third, to remain ever on our altars as the proof of His love for us, and to be worshipped by us. Please Pray for... Please pray for all those in hospitals, who are ill or recovering from surgery, and all those ailing at home, in hospice or in nursing homes. Please keep in your prayers: Linda Adams, Kathleen A. If you or a family member is admitted to the hospital and would like Fr. Roman to visit and/or administer the Sacrament of Healing, please call the rectory (467-3068). Fall- Back to School Food Drive! Now that school is back in session many school age children receive breakfast and lunch at school. But, many times these same children come home to an empty cupboard or refrigerator and often go to bed hungry. Parents are trying to make at least simple meals but struggle to have the needed ingredients. Your donations of even JUST ONE can, box or bag of food can provide at least something to ease the pain of hunger. The GREATEST NEEDS are: crackers, mustard, ketchup, cooking oil.

Różaniec i Adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu. Prosimy o poparcie. Everyday Stewardship Recognize God in Your Ordinary Moments As everyday stewards, we hope that each of us try to live daily lives of generosity for the glory of God. We hope that we are all working to cultivate characteristics of a good everyday steward so that we can grow in maturity of faith and draw closer to Christ. But if we could accurately see on a magical computer spreadsheet how everyone else around us was living life would it impact how we lived out our stewardship way of life? If we found out that others weren't trying as hard as we were or they were not nearly as generous would it give us reason to pause? In the workplace, school, and general life, people can easily look around and choose to adapt what they are doing to match more closely what others are doing. Why give work more hours if no one else is willing? Why give a 20% tip to a waiter if you suspect everyone else is only giving 15%? Why spend hours studying for a test when no one else is taking it that seriously? Our lives of stewardship should never be measured against that of others. Even though we are all called to give all we are and all we have to God, each one of us is unique in our response to that call. Instead of any type of comparison that may temper our generosity, we should hold to the truth that the more we give of ourselves the more fulfilled we will feel. Also, as we grow in our relationship with God, the more we will want to glorify Him. Stewardship is not a competition. It is a call to serve God without counting the cost. Post Festival Luncheon Sunday, September 24 This Sunday September 24, we will be doing a post-festival luncheon special after all the Masses. Please stop by the auditorium after the Mass for a delicious lunch within your parish family! See you there! Diocesan Respect Life Mass Diocesan Respect Life Mass to celebrate Respect Life Sunday with Bishop Matano on Sunday, October 1 at 4:30 PM. Bishop Matano will celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Victory/St. Joseph Church on 210 Pleasant St. in Downtown Rochester. In your Christian charity you are asked to remember in your prayers Kathy Fite, whom God has called to eternal rest.
