Negotiating our lives and living the Gospel can sometimes be difficult tasks. We are not always sure how to act or where to turn. We stand a better chance of obtaining greater clarity and focus and discerning what direction to take when we use the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we have been given. Words to Inspire the Faithful The Church is like a great ship being pounded by the waves of life's different stresses. Our duty is not to abandon ship but to keep Her on Her course. --St. Boniface Recognize God in Your Ordinary Moments Centuries ago, God moved in such a profound way and sent His Holy Spirit upon us, imparting to the Church gifts that remain with us today. That first Pentecost was a first birthday party of sorts, with people gathered to celebrate their common faith in Jesus Christ. Of course, that party had none of the trappings of a child's event at Chuck E. Cheese's, but instead presented us all with generous gifts that could be used for the glory of God instead of the stuff children discard after a few weeks.

Gospel Meditation Encourage Deeper Understanding of Scripture Pentecost Sunday "Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, 'Peace be with you." Then, He said it again. And then, "He breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'" Jesus brings peace, and He brings the Holy Spirit. Peace, in fact, is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Today, on this feast of Pentecost, we remember the dramatic outpouring of the Holy Spirit that came upon those first apostles and the peace that came along with it. But we do more than remember. We also celebrate the presence of this same Spirit in our midst. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, every Christian receives the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in his or her soul. Thus, the Gift of Peace is already ours! The question is whether or not we have really begun to appreciate and utilize this most precious gift. Like the apostles who had locked themselves up "for fear of the Jews," we too are capable of imprisoning ourselves in our own anxieties. We fret and worry about the future, about our sufferings or our disappointments, and too often let these concerns stifle the true peace that Jesus offers us. But the Church today urges us to rejoice and to step out in faith like the apostles who left their fears behind them. Peace not only alleviates our fears, it also frees us to live our faith to the fullest, to have the courage to take risks, and to leave our comfort zone for the sake of the Gospel. This is what we are called and, not only that, empowered to do. Anything less is a kind of spiritual poverty we bring upon ourselves. God has given us the gift of Himself, present and available in every moment, every place, and every situation. May we recognize this most wonderful gift and give thanks with grateful hearts. One Decade a Day-Can Keep War Away and Have Peace Stay! Become a Prayer Warrior! Sign up to be part of the Living Rosary Prayer Ministry. As we celebrate the 100 th Anniversary of our Lady of Fatima s apparitions to the 3 children, by obeying her request to pray the rosary daily is one of the most beautiful gifts we can offer her. Our world continues to be in DESPERATE need of prayer. While the leaders of nations assert their power with weapons and warfare, we know through the message from our Heavenly Mother and faith, that we hold the ultimate weapon to attain world peace, the ROSARY. Promise to pray privately at home ONE DECADE of the rosary everyday for world peace and the Pope s monthly intention. You and the other members of the Living Rosary will pray an assigned Mystery which then completes a whole rosary. You will receive a new Mystery and intention every month. For more information contact Sonja Stenclik at the rectory 467-3068 or email her at sonja.stenclik@dor.org. Catholic Traditions Explained Question: Is it true that the feast of Pentecost, the celebration of the descent of the Spirit upon the followers of Jesus, was a Jewish pilgrimage festival? Answer: Pentecost is only mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles, written by the author of Luke's Gospel. John's Gospel speaks of Jesus breathing the Spirit upon His followers on Easter Sunday. Luke in Acts is the only one who unpacks the Easter events of Jesus' Passion, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, and the sending forth of the Spirit in a period of fifty days. The Jews had three pilgrimage feasts--passover, celebrating the Exodus from Egypt; Shavuot, or festival of Weeks, celebrating the giving of the law on Mount Sinai; and Sukkot, the harvest festival of Booths, commemorating the forty years of wandering in the desert. Shavuot celebrated the central covenant event in Jewish life--the giving of the law to Moses on Mount Sinai. The mighty wind, the shaking of the house in which the followers were gathered, along with the tongues of fire all reflect elements surrounding the giving of the law to Moses in the Book of Exodus. Luke was imaging this very backdrop and scenario in this significant event of the community being gifted with the Spirit. As the Torah was the way to God for Jews, so Jesus' Spirit was the guide, power, and path to God for His followers.

Uroczystość Zesłania Ducha Świętego Dzień Zesłania Ducha Świętego, zwany też Pięćdziesiątnicą, potocznie Zielonymi Świątkami, jest w chrześcijaństwie świętem ruchomym i przypada 49 dni (7 tygodni) od Niedzieli Zmartwychwstania Pańskiego. Czcimy dzisiaj zstąpienie Ducha Świętego na Kościół, na Kościół czasów apostolskich. Zesłanie Ducha Świętego to dzień narodzin Kościoła, dzień jedności wszystkich ochrzszczonych. Duch Święty sprawił że Apostołowie idąc na cały świat głosili jednego Chrystusa, udzielali jednego chrztu, w Imię jednego Chrystusa odpuszczali grzechy. To dzieło trwa w Kościele Chrystusowym aż do dnia dzisiejszego. Niech obejmie nasz rozum i wolę, niech je odnowi, oczyści i wzmocni. Niech nas pobudzi do serdecznego żalu za wszystkie nasze grzechy. Módlmy się aby moc Ducha Świętego odnowiła nasze życie i utwierdziła naszą wiarę, nadzieję i miłość. Uroczystość Bożego Ciała Uroczystość Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa będziemy obchodzić w tym roku w niedzielę 18-go Czerwca. Stefan Kardynał Wyszyński Feast of Corpus Christi We will celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi this year on Sunday, June 18th with two Masses. After the 11:00 a.m. Mass we will have a solemn procession with the Blessed Sacrament to the four altars set up on the grounds of the church. We are asking Polish Choir, Polish School and Parish Societies to prepare the altars for the Feast of Corpus Christi. We would like to invite Parishioners, Guests and First Holy Communion Children to participate in this day as we honor the Blessed Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Be a Secret Surprise Birthday Blessing! Each week many of you faithfully bring boxes, cans and bags of healthy food for those in poverty. They are very grateful that you help to fill their tables. But even with your very generous donations they continue to struggle to meet day to day basic needs and therefore are not able to afford the extravagance of a birthday cake for their child s birthday. Will you be a birthday blessing and surprise a child by providing the fixings for a Happy Birthday? Take a gift bag and fill it with the items on the list. Return it to the Food Donation Box. Sr. Julia will deliver your secret surprise. St. Stanislaus Parish Picnic Father Roman invites all to spend a wonderful afternoon in a family atmosphere! Our annual parish picnic will take place on Sunday, June 25 h from Noon till 4:00 p.m. on the parish grounds.
