PART I WHAT DOES SAR MEAN? SEARCH AND RESCUE???
SAR RADAR Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is radar mapping technique for generating high-resolution maps in slant and cross range. It is possible because the SAR radar is installed on moving platforms. The moving radar can be treated as a long linear antenna array with a large amount of dipoles, which length is equal to radar flight path. The very long antenna has very narrow beamwidth and can ensure the very high cross-range resolution. It means that synthetic antenna beamwidth is much more narrow than real antenna pattern.
