ABSTRACT: In the years 2004 2005, a new stations of Epipactis microphylla, Spiranthes spiralis and Cephalanthera rubra were found in the Cieszyn Foothills (southern Poland, ATPOL square DG01). The paper describes the localities, habitats and plant communities in which the orchid species were found. It also provides some data on abundance and threats. ABSTRACT: On the basis of field studies, and analysis of all major herbarium collections as well as records from literature, 17 localities of Hordeum murinum subsp. murinum from northeastern Poland were identified. To date this species has been regarded as absent in this area (it could be inferred from publications concerning the distribution of this subspecies in Europe, as well as in Poland), or being very rare there (as could be indicated through the analysis of papers dealing with more general floristic accounts of the Eastern Pomeranian region, completed in the 1940s and 1969s). In some localities, the presented study has also found quite strong expansion of this subspecies. The results allow conclusion that the species occurs in northeastern Poland, although is not as common as in the rest of Poland. ABSTRACT: Since 2004 Nasturtium officinale R. Br. (Watercress) belongs to the group of plants protected by law in Poland. In some regions of the country it is considered as a threatened species and figures on red lists. The work shows the outcomes of the botanical researches in south-west Poland. Field data with 18 relevés were gathered from nine localities, in this eight newly found. In phytosociological table the floristic composition of the Nasturtium dominated patches (Nasturtietum officinalis) and also this, where Nasturtium occurs as a sporadic species, are shown. Phytocoenoses with N. -officinale were found alongside watercourses, periodically dried up, and also on the banks of larger rivers. No data were available about occurrence of Nasturtium officinale in quarries till now. One of the newly found population grows in out of use marl quarry in Strzelce Opolskie. ABSTRACT: Results of recent genetic studies on Central European populations of Cochlearia are summarized and discussed in the paper, against the background of existing literature concepts concerning the taxonomical status of several populations of this morphologically poorly resolved genus. Application of molecular markers (AFLPs) and cytological analyses allowed for an unambiguous identification of isolated populations of Cochlearia in Ukraine and Slovakia, solving long-lasting controversies on their identity. These results allowed to finally confirm the narrow-endemic status of C. polonica and C. tatrae, identifying the closest isolated populations of Cochlearia outside their restricted geographical range as disjunct C. pyrenaica. ABSTRACT: This study describes the mesotrofic and eutrofic fir forest in the western part of Beskid Niski Mts, which grow in the managed forest. The research was conducted with the use of Braun-Blanquet analysis. Numerical taxonomy was applied to distinguish the communities. Cluster analysis was used to group the relevés. Four forest associations and one forest community were distinguished. In this research silver fir was found dominant in foothill forest in Abies alba-rubus hirtus and patches of Tilio cordatae-carpinetum betuli. Abies alba in lower subalpine forest was dominant in: Galio rotundifolii-abietetum, and patches of Luzulo luzuloidis-fagetum and Dentario glandulosae-fagetum. In the undergrowth of

the distinguished associations, a large number of Rubus hirtus and ferns: Athyrium filix-femina and Dryopteris dilatata was found. It might reflect disturbances taking place in the associations. ABSTRACT: Data on the occurrence of Gonyostomum semen (Raphidophyceae) in northern and mid-eastern Poland (1992 2002) indicate its presence in 97 localities. These include 61 acid lobelian lakes, 28 dystrophic lakes, several eutrophicated dystrophic lakes and depressions in these bogs.
