Poland) JAN KRZYSZTOF KOWALCZYK*, PETER SENN** * ul. Matejki 13/45, 81-407 Gdynia ** ul. Kańskiego 7D/9, 81-603 Gdynia ABSTRACT. The paper lists 18 species belonging to the families Tipulidae (5 spp.), Tabanidae (2 spp.), Xylophagidae (1 sp.), Xylomyidae (1 sp.), Asilidae (3 spp.), Bombyliidae (2 spp.), Pipunculidae (1 sp.), Platystomatidae (1 sp.) and Sciomyzidae (1 sp.), all of which were collected within the boundaries of the city of Gdynia, northern Poland. All the species are rarely recorded or considered as endangered in Poland. Nine have never before been recorded on this part of the Polish Baltic coast (Kashubian Coast): Ctenophora flaveolata, C. ornata, C. pectinicornis (Tipulidae), Chrysops divaricatus, Heptatoma pellucens (Tabanidae), Solva marginata (Xylomyidae), Neomochtherus geniculatus (Asilidae), Micromitra stupida (Bombyliidae) and Nephrocerus scutellatus (Pipunculidae). Another three Tipula maxima (Tipulidae), Choerades marginata (Asilidae) and Sepedon sphegea (Sciomyzidae) have not been recorded in this region for over a century. Two new records for the Kashubian Lake District are also given. Two of them: P. annulata (MACQUART, 1829) and P. divicoi (GOELDLIN de TIEFENAU, 1974) are rare in Poland. Brief characteristics of the species are provided, including new hints for their determination. After reviewing the information from literature, the presence of the species P. virens (FABRICIUS, 1805) in Poland is hereby discussed. Furcobuchonomyia pankowskii sp. nov., a non-biting midge of the small subfamily Buchonomyiinae is described from Upper Cretaceous Burmese amber (early Cenomanian, ~100 Ma; Noije Bum, Myanmar). This is the sixth known Buchonomyiinae species, the third fossil representative of this subfamily, and the second described and named Chironomidae species from Burmese amber. A peculiar structure of the male genital apparatus, bearing a trifid gonostylus, justifies inclusion of this new species into the recently established, originally monotypic genus Furcobuchonomyia BARANOV, GÓRAL et ROSS, 2017, the diagnosis of which is amended. This paper presents a summary of knowledge of hoverflies of the Świętokrzyski National Park (Poland) and of a wide belt of adjoining areas, based mostly on the results of faunistic survey conducted in years 1978-1984. In total 176 hoverfly species were found in that area. Seventeen of those species are present on the Red List of Threatened Species of Poland. Detailed information is provided about twenty one species little known in Poland. Tom 33: 85-93 Akceptacja 20.12.2017 Wrocław 23 XII 2017 Annotated list of blowflies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) recorded during studies of insect succession on large carrion in Poland Wykaz plujek (Diptera: Calliphoridae) stwierdzonych podczas badań nad sukcesją owadów w trakcie rozkładu dużej padliny w Polsce KRZYSZTOF SZPILA Nicolaus Copernicus University, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection Chair of Ecology and Biogeography, Lwowska 1, 87-100 Toruń, Poland e-mail: szpila@umk.pl ABSTRACT. In Europe, as elsewhere, blowflies (Calliphoridae) are usually the most abundant and frequent insects visitors of the exposed remains of vertebrates. The total Polish calliphorid fauna consists 69 recorded species but only some of them are typical carrion breeders with confirmed forensic importance. This paper is based on data collected from experimental studies of insect succession on pig carrion conducted in Poland from year 2005 to year 2012. Surprisingly, adults of many species of non-necrophagous blowflies were observed as carrion visitors during these experiments. The updated list provided here consists of 24 species. Erroneous report of Parasyrphus kirgizorum (PECK, 1961) in ONP refers to Syrphus nitidifrons BECKER, 1921. As a result number of Syrphidae species recorded from Ojców National Park reached 185.
