Wolny field of research is intensification of sewage sludge preparation before mechanical dewatering with ultrasonic field energy application. The trend of investigations is based on low-frequency ultrasounds (22-30 khz) application to sewage sludge or polyelectrolytes, which are subsequently used in the sludge conditioning process. One of the aim of investigation is the possibility of reducing the dose of chemical reagents by combining both methods of sludge preparation (physical and chemical). Recently the impact of ultrasonic hydrolysis on the VFA generation in the acid fermentation of excess sludge is investigated. Prof. Wolny has experiences in running research projects for example in 2002 project performer Investigation of effectiveness of electromagnetic field application to sewage sludge conditioning before dewatering in the filtration process., KBN, in 2003 project director Intensification of sewage sludge preparation process to dewatering with ultrasonic field application., KBN, and in 2010-2012 project director "Evaluation of physical modification of sewage sludge on biodegradation and dewatering effectiveness. L. Wolny is co - author of patent N 17042 entitled The way of sludge preparation to dewatering and author of publications which were presented on the scientific conferences. 7
