3 Konferencja Sieci Komputerowe 2011 Konferencja Sieci Komputerowe jest organizowana przez Instytut Informatyki Politechniki Śląskiej rok rocznie od roku W roku 2011 odbywa się jej osiemnasta edycja w tym czwarta edycja o zakresie międzynarodowym. Głównym celem konferencji jest prezentacja bieżących prac badawczych i aplikacyjnych jak również wymiana doświadczeń z zakresu szeroko pojętych zagadnień sieci komputerowych. Konferencja jest dedykowana dla wszystkich zainteresowanych tematyką sieci komputerowych, rozproszonych systemów komputerowych jak również molekularnymi sieciami informatyki, technologiami nano i technologiami kwantowymi w informatyce. W szczególności do zagadnień tematycznych konferencji należą: Molekularne sieci informatyki. Zagadnienia sieciowe związane z technologiami nano, molekularnymi i kwantowymi. Nowe technologie związane z sieciami komputerowymi. Podstawy budowy i oprogramowania sieci komputerowych. Sieci Internet. Bezpieczeństwo informacji w systemach sieciowych. Komputerowe sieci przemysłowe. Zastosowanie sieci komputerowych. Konferencja posiada techniczny patronat organizacji IEEE. Podczas tegorocznej, 18 edycji: organizowane jest szkolenie na temat: Mobile Phone Security, Interception and Forensics prowadzony przez Iosifa I. Androulidakisa z Wydziału Telefonii w Centrum Operacji Sieciowych Uniwersytetu w Ioannina z Grecji, organizowana jest specjalna sesja projektu Internet Przyszłości ( prowadzona przez prof. Tadeusza Czachórskiego z IITiS PAN z Gliwic, organizowane są warsztaty firmy DELL z tematu: Another Innovative Approach to Virtualized Storage and SAN Network prowadzone przez Dariusza Klar z firmy DELL Polska. W pierwszym dniu konferencji, na sesji plenarnej 14 czerwca wystąpią przedstawiciele partnerów konferencji: Karol Dworak z firmy SAP z wystąpieniem na temat: Oczekiwania rynku pracy wobec absolwenta informatyki (część druga), Grzegorz Fruba z firmy DELL z wystąpieniem na temat: Sieć SAN w oparciu o rozwiązania DELL/Compellent, oraz zaproszeni goście: Profesor Andrzej Grzywak z WSB w Dąbrowie Górniczej zaprezentuje wykład na temat: Computer Continuity Management in Distraction Systems of Management and Steering. Profesor Józef Woźniak z Politechniki Gdańskiej zaprezentuje wykład na temat: Analiza protokołów mobilności w sieciach IP i algorytmów szybkiego przełączania w sieciach wykorzystujących technologię IEEE

4 W drugim dniu konferencji na sesji plenarnej 15 czerwca w ramach sesji projektu Internet Przyszłości wystąpią: profesor Tadeusz Czachórski z IITiS PAN z Gliwic z prezentacją na temat Cele i osiągnięcia projektu IIP, profesor Michele Pagani z Uniwersytetu w Pizie z Włoch z wykładem na temat: Detekcja anomalii na bazie PCA. W trzecim dniu konferencji 16 czerwca odbędzie się sesja specjalna, podczas której swój wykład zaprezentuje profesor Adam Grzech z Politechniki Wrocławskiej. Tematem wykładu będzie: Dostarczanie usług z uwzględnieniem QoS w systemach SOA. Dodatkowo podczas tej sesji przedstawiciel organizacji IEEE Jacek Izydorczyk z Politechniki Śląskiej przedstawi wykład na temat Wskazówki dla uzyskania publikacji w IEEE transactions. Planowane były jeszcze dwa wystąpienia: profesora Tülin Atmaca z Instytutu Łączności z Francji z wykładem na temat: Nowe trendy w sieciach optycznych, profesora Stefana Węgrzyna z IITiS PAN z Gliwic z wykładem na temat: Składy i struktury atomów, molekuł i molekularnych systemów informatyki. Ze względów losowych wykłady zostały odwołane. Materiały z nimi związane można pobrać ze strony WWW konferencji. Podczas konferencji wygłoszone będzie ponad 70 referatów przez prelegentów z 9 krajów. 4

5 Conference Computer Networks 2011 The conference has been organized by the Institute of Informatics every year since In the year 2011, it is the third international and seventeenth Polish national edition of the conference. The main goal of the conference is presentation of current research and application activities as well as exchange of experience associated with general issues involved in computer networks. The Computer Networks (CN) conference is dedicated to all activities related to computer networks, distributed computer systems together with nano and quantum technology and molecular networks. The topics of the conference are planned to be the following: Molecular networks. Network issues related to nano and quantum technology. New technologies related to the computer networks. Fundamentals of computer networks architecture and programming. Internet networks. Data security in network systems. Industrial computer networks. Applications of computer networks. The conference has a technical patronage of the IEEE. The following special events are organized during the CN'11: the tutorial on Mobile Phone Security, Interception and Forensics leaded by Iosif I. Androulidakis, the special guest session of Future Internet Engineering project ( leaded by prof. Tadeusz Czachórski form IITiS PAN Gliwice, Poland. the DELL workshop on topic: Another Innovative Approach to Virtualized Storage and SAN Network leaded by Dariusz Klar from DELL Poland. On the first day of the conference, on June 14, during the plenary session: representatives of the invited companies present their speeches: Karol Dworak from SAP Poland on topic: Expectations of Job Market Regarding to Graduate in Computer Science (part two), Grzegorz Fruba from DELL Poland on topic: SAN Based on DELL/Compellent Storage Grid, the key-speakers deliver their lectures: professor Andrzej Grzywak from Business Academy from Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, on topic: Computer Continuity Management in Distraction Systems of Management and Steering, professor Józef Woźniak from Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland, on topic: Comparative Analysis of IP-based Mobility Protocols and Fast Handover Algorithms in IEEE Based WLANs. Additionally, on June 15 within the session of the project Future Internet Engineering speak: professor Tadeusz Czachórski from IITiS PAN Gliwice, Poland, speeach topic: 'The Objectives and the Achievements of FIE, professor Michele Pagani from Pisa University, Italy, lecture topic: 'On PCA-based Network Anomaly Detection. 5

6 On the third conference day, June 16, the special session is planned. During this session the lecture: QoS-aware Services Delivery in SOA Based Systems will be delivered by professor Adam Grzech from Wrocław University of Technology, Poland. Additionally, the IEEE speech will be headed by Jacek Izydorczyk from Silesian University of Technology. The topic is Tips for Getting a Transactions Article Published. Two more lectures were planned: professor Tülin Atmaca from National Institute of Telecommunication, France, on topic: 'New Trends in Optical Networks', professor Stefan Węgrzyn from the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences from Gliwice, Poland, on topic: 'The Compositions and Structures of Atoms, Molecules and Molecular Computing Systems'. Due to the lot sake the lectures were canceled. Materials associated with the lectures can be downloaded from the website of the conference. During the conference over 70 reports will be delivered by participants from 9 countries. 6

7 Historia Konferencji Konferencja Sieci Komputerowe zrodziła się w Instytucie Informatyki Wydziału Automatyki, Elektroniki i Informatyki Politechniki Śląskiej w 1993 roku. Głównym pomysłodawcą, organizatorem i przewodniczącym Komitetu Programowego konferencji był profesor dr hab. inż. Andrzej Grzywak, wybitny specjalista od systemów sieciowych. Pierwszych pięć edycji konferencji odbyło się w aulach Wydziału Automatyki Elektroniki i Informatyki Politechniki Śląskiej. W roku 1999 konferencja została zorganizowana po raz pierwszy jako konferencja wyjazdowa w stolicy Polskich Tatr w Zakopanem. Każda kolejna edycja była od tamtej pory wydarzeniem organizowanym poza Gliwicami i jak do tej pory zawsze w górach. Od roku 2007 Przewodniczącym Komitetu Programowego został dr hab. inż. Andrzej Kwiecień prof. w Politechnice Śląskiej, natomiast przewodniczenia organizacji konferencji podjął się dr inż. Piotr Gaj. Zamysłem konferencji była i nadal jest integracja krajowych środowisk naukowych, badawczych i przemysłowych przez umożliwienie polskim naukowcom wymiany informacji dotyczących prac przez nich prowadzonych. Stanowi ona platformę dającą możliwość podzielenia się swoją wiedzą, doświadczeniem i osiągnięciami, a także opublikowania wyników prac badawczych i aplikacyjnych. 7

8 VIII VII VI V IV III II-V I Edycja W roku 2008 formuła konferencji została zmieniona na międzynarodową z dwoma oficjalnymi językami: polskim i angielskim, dając tym samym możliwość uczestnictwa osobom spoza naszych granic. Organizatorzy konferencji zawsze również dbali o kontakt z przemysłem. Dlatego podczas wielu edycji można było spotkać przedstawicieli różnych firm krajowych i zagranicznych, którzy dzielili się z uczestnikami swoja wiedzą i doświadczeniem korzystając jednocześnie z kontaktów ze środowiskami akademickimi. Ambicją organizatorów stało się rozszerzenie formuły konferencji o pewne dziedziny wiedzy, które tylko z pozoru, mogą się wydawać mało tematycznie związane z sieciami komputerowymi. Należy tu mieć na myśli sesje poświęcone nanoinformatyce oraz biologicznym i chemicznym aspektom informatyki. W dziedzinach tych bowiem, łatwo znaleźć analogie wprost odnoszące się do rozproszonych systemów informatycznych, a te przecież z sieciami komputerowymi mają ścisły związek. Przez wiele lat materiały konferencyjne ukazywały się nakładem Wydawnictwa Politechniki Śląskiej jako Zeszyty Naukowe serii Informatyka wydawanych od roku 2000 jako Studia Informatica. Na bazie referatów konferencji powstały również monografie wydane nakładem WKŁ oraz książki w serii Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) wydawnictwa Springer-Verlag. 11 Conference History The 'Computer Networks' conference was established in 1993 in the Institute of Informatics which belongs to the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology. The main originator, organizer and chief of the conference Program Committee was professor Andrzej Grzywak, the prominent specialist of network systems. The first five editions of the conference took place in the halls of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology. In 1999 the conference was organized as an open event for the first time. The venue was the capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains, Zakopane. Each of the next editions was organized outside Gliwice, always in the mountains so far. In 2007, prof. Andrzej Kwiecień became the chief of the Program Committee, whereas Mr Piotr Gaj went in for being in the chair of the Organization Committee. The main intention of the conference was and still is the integration of national and international scientific, research, and industrial environments, by enabling scientists to exchange information 11

It became a platform of knowledge, experience, and achievements, possible to be shared, as well as it facilitated the publication of the results of research and applications. In 2008 the conference form was changed into international with two official languages: Polish and English, and it gives guests from abroad the opportunity to participate. Moreover, the conference organizers have always cared about strong contact with industry. Thus, during many editions it was possible to meet representatives of various Polish and foreign companies, who shared their knowledge and experience with our participants, and simultaneously took advantage from obtaining contact with academic society. The extension of the conference formula became an ambition of the organizers. Especially of certain domains of knowledge, which apparently seem to be not directly connected with computer networks. It means domains related to nanoinformatics as well as biological and chemical aspects of informatics. Nevertheless, in these branches, it is easy to find direct similarities regarding distributed computer systems, and these have a strong connection with computer networks after all. For many years the conference materials had been published by University Publishing as Science Copybooks in Informatics series, which had been released since 2000 as series Studia Informatica. In addition, based on the conference papers, monographs had been also created and published by the Polish WKŁ Publishing House, as well as proceedings named Computer Networks had been created in Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series by Springer-Verlag Publisher from Germany. 21 Sponsor techniczny konferencji SK'11 Polska Sekcja Organizacji IEEE W marcu 2011 roku liczba członków organizacji IEEE 1 pierwszy raz w historii przekroczyła Zwiększyła się także liczba członków prawie wszystkich towarzystw w ramach IEEE, a największy wzrost zanotowało IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Computer Society oraz IEEE Power and Energy Society. Wzrost liczby członków IEEE odnotowywany był przez ostatnie siedem lat z rzędu, a w latach , mimo kryzysu, wyniósł on w sumie siedem procent. W tym samym czasie liczba studentów-członków IEEE wzrosła o 21%. Można się spodziewać, że wzrost ten zostanie utrzymany, szczególnie że IEEE w istotny sposób obniżyło składkę członkowską dla osób pracujących w krajach rozwijających się, w tym w Polsce. Czym jest IEEE? Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, w skrócie IEEE, jest największym na świecie stowarzyszeniem inżynierów reprezentujących bardzo szeroko pojęte nauki o elektryczności. Właściwie należałoby mówić raczej o nowych technologiach. Celem stowarzyszenia jest promocja innowacyjności i doskonałości technicznej. Organizacja powołana została do życia przez grupę inżynierów elektryków w Nowym Jorku w roku 1884 pod nazwą American Institute of Electrical Engineers lub krótko AIEE. Założyciele byli niewątpliwie zafascynowani nowymi zdobyczami techniki: telegrafem znanym już wtedy od ponad 40 lat oraz wynalazkami Thomasa Edisona, które doprowadziły do rozwoju sieci elektrycznej, rozpowszechnienia oświetlenia żarowego, a w konsekwencji elektryfikacji wszystkich aspektów współczesnej cywilizacji. Pierwszy prezes AIEE Norvin Green był pracownikiem Western Union i reprezentował sektor przemysłu związanego z telegrafią. Wśród pierwszych członków był Thomas Edison reprezentant sieci elektroenergetycznych oraz Alexander Graham Bell reprezentant telekomunikacji. Niezależnie od AIEE w roku 1912 powołane zostało przez amerykańskie środowisko inżynierów radiotechników stowarzyszenie IRE Institute of Radio Engineers. Niewątpliwym impulsem było w tym przypadku udoskonalenie przez pracownika AT&T Harolda D. Arnolda lampy elektronowej Lee de Foresta i otwarcie w ten sposób bram rozwoju elektroniki. W latach po drugiej wojnie światowej IRE rozwijało się nawet szybciej od AIEE co wiąże się z licznymi wynalazkami czasu wojny, w tym rozpowszechnieniem radaru i łączności w zakresie częstotliwości mikrofalowych. Ponieważ obie organizacje zrzeszały ludzi działających w blisko spokrewnionych dziedzinach techniki, od 1 stycznia 1963 roku AIEE oraz IRE połączyły się tworząc jedną organizację IEEE. W chwili połączenia IEEE miało członków z czego w USA. Od tego czasu IEEE powoli, ale systematycznie przekształcało się z lokalnego, amerykańskiego stowarzyszenia inżynierów elektryków w stowarzyszenie o charakterze międzynarodowym, a nawet globalnym. Obecnie IEEE zrzesza członków ze 160 krajów świata z czego 43% członków jest spoza USA. Grupy zainteresowań rozrosły się i przekształciły w IEEE Societies których obecnie jest 38. W ten sposób członkowie IEEE stanowią elitę inżynierów reprezentujących najróżniejsze dziedziny techniki zaczynając od telekomunikacji poprzez informatykę, robotykę, automatykę, elektronikę, mikro i nanotechnologię do biomedycyny i biotechnologii. 1 Czytaj Eye-triple-E 21

23 Technical co-sponsor of CN'11 IEEE Poland Section In March 2011 the number of members of IEEE 2 first time in history exceeded th. Also increased the number of members of almost all societies within the IEEE. The largest increase recorded IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Power & Energy Society. The increase in the number of members of the IEEE was recorded for the last seven years, and in it amounted to a total of seven percent. At the same time, the number of student members of the IEEE has increased by 21%. It can be expected that this growth will continue, especially as the IEEE significantly reduced membership fee for those working in developing countries, including Poland. What is IEEE? Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, in short IEEE, is the largest organization that connect engineers who represent electrical science in the world. Actually, it shall be called new technologies. The point of the organisation is to promote the technical perfection and innovation. The association was brought to life by a group of New York engineers under the name of American Institute of Electrical Engineers or short AIEE. Founders were undoubtedly fascinated of new technical inventions: a telegraph, which has been known already for 40 years and the inventions of Thomas Edison, which evolved the electrical network, popularized the incandescent lighting and consequently electrification of all modern civilization aspects. The first chairman of AIEE Norvin Green was a worker of western union and he represented telegraphic industry. One of the very first members was Thomas Edison representative of electromagnetic networks and Alexander Graham Bell representative of telecommunication. Independently of AIEE, in 1912 an American association was brought to life IRE, Institute of Radio Engineers. The unquestionable impulse was an improvement of Lee de Foust electron lamp by AT&T employee, Harold D. Arnold. This opened gates to electronics evolution. After the second world war IRE evolved even faster than AIEE, what is connected with many war time inventions, including a spread of radars and connection using microwave frequencies. Because both organisations associated people who worked in similar technical areas since 1st January 1963 AIEE and IRE has connected, creating one organisation IEEE. Back then IEEE had members including from USA. Since its set-up it has been slowly transforming from a local, American society of electrical engineers to an international organisation. Now IEEE has members from 160 countries, 43% of those people are from the outside of the USA. Groups of interest grew and evolved into IEEE Societies. Right now there are 38 such groups. IEEE members consist of elite engineers from almost every area of technique, from telecommunication, information technology, robotics, automatics, electronics, micro and nanotechnology up to biomedicine and biotechnology. 2 Read Eye-triple-E 23

25 Key Speakers Key Speaker: Tülin Atmaca Institut National de Télécommunication, FRANCE Tülin BERBER ATMACA received the PhD degree in Computer Science from The University of Paris XI (ORSAY), in France in 1987, and the HdR (Habilitation à Diriger de Recherche) in July From 1986 to 1988 she has taught in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Paris XI. From 1989 to 1991, she was Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Paris VI. Since January 1992, she has been working at Institut Telecom / Telecom SudParis (ex INT) in France. She is currently a Professor in the Telecommunications Networks and Services department. She was a Visiting Professor in the Computer Science Department of the North Carolina State University, as well as the department of Industrial Engineering of the Rutgers State University. Her research interests are in the areas of performance evaluation of telecommunication networks (Optical Networks, ATM, FR, IP,...), of traffic and congestion control, and Quality of Services aspects in these networks. She is involved in several national and international research projects in the field of the optical packet switching network and their performance (RNRT/ROM, RNRT/ROM- EO, ANR/ECOFRAME, CARRIOCAS, Euro-NGI, Euro-FGI, Euro-NF and Industrial research projects with Alcatel, France Telecom, etc.). She has been a member of several technical program committees (Infocom, IFIP, PCN, IP-QoS,...) and also she was co-chair of various well-known international conferences. Her recent research interests include the optical multi-service networks: QoS aspect in WAN and MAN and the performance of optical access networks. He is a professor in the Institute of Computer Science, Department of Computer Science and Management, Wrocław University of Technology (WUT). He obtained M.Sc. degree from Department of Electronics, Wrocław University of Technology in 1977, Ph.D. degree from Institute of Technical Cybernetics, Wrocław University of Technology in 1979, D.Sc. degree from Department of Electronics, Wrocław University of Technology in 1989 and professor title in His research interests include design and analysis of computer systems and networks, requirement analysis, modeling and identification of computer networks, design and application of local and wide area computer networks, flow control and congestion avoidance in computer networks, migration and integration of heterogeneous computer systems and networks, services integration in networks, intelligent networks, quality of service aware networks, SOA-paradigm based systems, engineering of the future internet, security of computer systems and networks, agent-based systems and its application in optimization and control and intelligent information systems. Key-note lecture entitled: `QoS-aware services delivery in SOA based systems` Key Speaker: Andrzej Grzywak Academy of Business in Dabrowa Gornicza, POLAND Andrzej Grzywak received the M.S.E.E., Ph.D., and D.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering and informatics from the Silesian University of Technology. Currently he is a Professor in the Department of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of SUT (Division of Informatics Devices). 25

26 His experiences are connected with the scientific research and his participation in the development of computer industry in 1954 he joined the Department of Automatic Control of the Silesian University of Technology, where he was one of the founders of the Institute of Informatics. From 1976 to 1997 he was the Vice-director for Research and next, from August 31, 1997 to 2000 the Director of the Institute. From 1954 to 1976 he was with the Institute of Mining Mechanization (ZKMPW), where he conducted the works as a Principal Investigator in the design and construction of the first Polish minicomputer (MKJ-25). From 1976 to 1983 he was with the Institute of Controls Systems, where he worked as a director of the Mera 60 computer project. Next he held the position of the Director of that Institute. In 2002 Professor Grzywak joined the Academy of Business in Dąbrowa Górnicza, where he was a faculty member and a Vice-Rector. Currently he is a Professor and the Rector of the Academy of Business. Professor Grzywak is a member of the Informatics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is also a Chairman of the Scientific Council in the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His expertise is in computer design, computer networks, and security of computer systems. Prof. Andrzej Grzywak is an author of over a hundred scientific and technical publications, including six books. 26 doctoral dissertations have been written under Professor Grzywak s supervision. In 1978 he was awarded with the State Prize. Key-note lecture entitled: `Computer Continuity Management in distraction systems of management and steering` Key Speaker: Michele Pagano University of Pisa, ITALY Michele Pagano received laurea (cum laude) in Electronics Engineering in 1994 and a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering in 1998, both from the University of Pisa. Since 2007, he is an associate professor at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, where he is the official instructor of the courses of `Telematics`, `Architectures`, `components and network services`, `Performance of Multimedia Networks` and `Network Security`. His research interests are related to statistical characterization of traffic flows and to network performance analysis, mainly in the framework of architectures able to support Quality of Service. Performance evaluation has been carried through analytical approaches as well as by means of discrete event simulation, including techniques for the simulation of rare events. In the last years he extended his research interests to statistical traffic classification and network security issues, mainly in the framework of Intrusion Detection Systems. He has co-authored around 100 papers published in international journals and presented in leading international conferences. As a member of the Research Unit of Pisa, he has been involved in the activities of the Network of Excellence Euro-NGI and in several national and international projects in the field of telecommunication networks, in particular being the local coordinator for the 2006 PRIN (Research projects of national interest) RECIPE (Robust and Efficient traffic Classification in IP networks) and the 2008 PRIN EFFICIENT (Energy efficient technologies for the Networks of Tomorrow). Moreover, for the period 2009{2012 he is the principal investigator in international cooperation projects on `Modeling Next Generation Internet`, funded by the University of Pisa. Key-note lecture entitled: `On PCA-based Network Anomaly Detection` Key Speaker: Stefan Węgrzyn The Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, POLAND Stefan Węgrzyn received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Silesian University of Technology in 1949 and 1951, respectively. Also in 1949 he published his first book Operational calculus in application to transient states calculation in the electrical circuits with lumped parameters, which was a result of his research performed as a student. That book was a basis of his lectures at the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the SUT. 26

27 In the following years, Professor Węgrzyn published several new books in Poland and abroad: Operational calculus (PWN, Warsaw 1955 and 1960), in Slovak Operatorovy počet v elektrotechnicke (Bratislava 1958), Transients in electrical lines and chain networks (PWN, Warsaw 1958), Operatorenrechnung in der Elektrotechnik Technik (Verlag, Berlin 1962), and Calcul opérationnel en électrotechnique (Gauthier-Villars, Paris 1967). In 1960 he received the Docteur de l Université degree from the University of Toulouse, France. Since 1964 Professor Węgrzyn has been a member of Polish Academy of Sciences and since 1995 a member of the renewed Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU). Professor Węgrzyn took the initiative in establishing the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology and the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gliwice. He was the director of this Institute, the Head of Informatics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Archives of Theoretical and Applied Informatics. He received Honoris Causa doctorates from the University of Lille, France 1973, Universite de Sherbrooke, Canada 1977, SUT in 1988, AGH University of Science and Technology, Cracow 1989, and Rzeszow University of Technology, Professor S. Węgrzyn received an Award in Science of 1st degree from Polish Government and Ordre des Palmes Academiques (chevalier et officier grades) from French Government. Scientific interests of Professor Węgrzyn extend from dynamics of electrical circuits through the control, stability and identification theory (Gille-Węgrzyn equations in control theory, introduction of Banach s metric spaces to the stability analysis and identification), complex control systems theory, informatics, developmental systems, information technology in nanoscience including quantum systems of informatics. Key-note lecture entitled: `The compositions and structures of atoms, molecules and molecular computing systems` Key Speaker: Józef Woźniak Gdansk University of Technology, POLAND Professor Józef Woźniak received his M.Sc., Ph.D and D.Sc. degrees in electronics and telecommunications from the Faculty of Electronics, Gdańsk University of Technology (GUT), Poland, in 1971, 1976 and 1991, respectively. In January 2002 he became a full professor. In 1993 he was elected Associate Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and in 1994 he was appointed a Professor at GUT. Simultaneously, from October 1994 till September 1996, i.e. up to dissolution of the Franco-Polish School of New Information and Communication Technologies in Poznań, he was a Professor there. In 1996 he was elected, and in 1999 reelected, a Dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at GUT. In the years he was Rector's Attonrey in charge of Continuing Engineering Education at GUT. In 2002 he was approved by the GUT Senat as a Chairman of the Commission for Distance Education. Since 2004 he is a member of the Council for Science, taking part in activities of the Committee on Research for the Developement of Science. Prof. Woźniak is also a member of the Committee of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Polish Academy of Scences (PAN), chairing the Telecommunications Section. He is a member of IEEE (chairing Gdańsk IEEE Computers Society Chapter) and IFIP 27

28 (being a vicechair of the Working Group WG6.8 - on Wireless Communications) Prof. J. Woźniak has rich industrial and scientific experience. In February 1984 he participated in research works at the Vrije Universiteit, Brussel. From December 1986 to March 1987 he was a Visiting Scientists at the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Politecnico di Milano. In both cases he was working on modelling and performance analysis of packet radio networks. In 1988/89 he was a Visiting Professor at the Aalborg University Center, lecturing on computer networks and communication protocols. In 2007 he conducted (as a Visiting Erskine Fellow) lectures at the Canterbury University in New Zealand. Prof. Józef Woźniak is author or co-author of more than 200 scientific papers and co-author of four books, e.g., "LAN, MAN, WAN - computer networks and communication protocols" (printed in Polish in 1998) awarded the Ministry of National Education Prize (2nd ed. in 2000) and "Wired and Wireless LANs", issued in 2002 (also awarded the Ministry of National Education Prize in 2003). He is also co-editor of 4 conference proceedings and co-author of 4 student textbooks and great number of unpublished scientific reports. His scientific and research interests include network architectures, analysis of communication systems, network security problems, mobility management in IP networks as well as LAN and MAN operational schemes. His research interests focus on security issues in PBXs (private telephony exchanges) where he has more than 15 years of experience, as well as in mobile phones and embedded systems. Recent collaborations include Greek PTT s Security & Fraud Control Division, the Greek Fiscal and Economic Investigation Service, the Greek Police, the European Public Law Center, the Southeastern Europe Telecommunications & Informatics Research Institute, the Media and private security consulting firms. He was also awarded a patent from Greek Patent Office for an innovative OMR system. Mr Androulidakis holds a BSc in Physics and a PhD and an MSc in Electronics for which he was awarded the Greek State s Scholarships Foundation outstanding performance prize.
