Our Parish School: We are part of an excellent co-sponsored elementary school: All Saints Academy. For information call: Religious Education For Children: CCD classes are held every Sunday from September through April at 9:15 am. Classes are conducted in our school building. Confessions: Daily Monday to Saturday following the 7:00 am Mass. Saturday afternoons at 3:30 pm. Sacrament Of The Sick: Sick Calls or other Emergency Calls should be made to the rectory at any time. Arrangements can also be made for regular visitations at home or hospital for Holy Communion and/or Confession. We urge you to keep us aware of parishioners who are ill in the hospital or at home. Marriages: Please make arrangements at least one year in advance. Couples are urged to solemnize their vows at a Nuptial Mass. Baptisms: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month on the First Sunday (in English) and on the Third Sunday (in Polish). A required Baptismal Program for Parents is conducted at 1:00 pm on the second Sunday of the month in Polish and on the last Sunday in English. Novenas: Every Tuesday Evening to Saint Anne following the 7:00 pm Mass. Every Thursday Evening to Divine Mercy following the 7:00 pm Mass. This department creates scholarship monies for economically challenged youth to attend our diocesan Catholic Elementary schools. Our own, All Saints Catholic Academy, has many students who receive funds from this appeal. Please consider becoming part of this diocesan program. Leon On her recent selection to be the 2013 Bayonne Contingent Marshal for the Pulaski Day Parade. Frances has been very active at OLMC and left her most memorable mark as a teacher and principal, (until 2008) of our Religious Education Program. 4 Confessions in Lent Archbishop Myers has asked each parish in the Archdiocese of Newark to provide an opportunity for the Sacrament of Penance each Wednesday evening in Lent. The pastors of Bayonne have designed the following opportunity for all Catholics in our city to have opportunities for Confession. St. Andrew s Church: Wednesdays - 6:30-7:30 PM St. Henry s :Wednesdays - 7:00-8:00 PM St. Mary s : Wednesdays - 6:30-7:30 PM SS. Michael/Joseph: Wednesdays - 7:45-8:45 PM St. Vincent s: Wednesdays - 7:00-8:00 PM Our Lady of Assumption: Wednesday, Feb. 27 (only) 7:00-8:00 PM Mt. Carmel: Tuesdays (English) 6:30 PM and after the 7:00 PM Mass and Devotions. (if needed.) Thursdays (Polish) 6:30 PM and after the 7:00 PM Mass and Devotions. (if needed.) You are reminded that the Sacrament of Penance is available at OLMC every morning, Monday - Saturday, after the 7:00 AM Mass and Saturday afternoons at 3:30 PM. As customary, there will be a special Confession Evening with visiting priests prior to Easter. Holy Family Academy presents an original musical theatre piece: The Prodigal Daughter on Friday, March 8th at 5:00 PM. It is a Biblical Story from a woman s point of view, created and performed by Doreen Firestone. This twilight performance, suitable for all audiences, is open to the public and is the first of the Cultural Arts Series supported by a grant from The Richmond County Savings Foundation. A $ 7.00 donation is requested. All proceeds go directly to Holy Family Academy. For information or tickets: Lent is the traditional time to pay your Parish Dues. Please stop in the Parish Office or mail your booklet to the office at your earliest convenience. Not registered!? All you need do is call the rectory or fill out one of the Welcome Visitors' Collection envelope found at the church entrances. Our Parish Secretary & Sacristans will also be available next weekend in the church entrance area to assist you. Parish Financial Up-Date How is our collection money used? At OLMC, our greatest expense is Salary & Benefits for workers. The second greatest expense is Utilities. ( For example, our Water bill for the month of January was $ Fuel was : $ 11, Electricity was $ 3, The last combined Energy & Fuel collections totaled: $ 3, ) The third greatest expense is for Maintenance. Occasionally, we are asked what the Maintenance Collection money is used for. This supports the cost of regular repairs and care for the parish buildings and property ( e.g. snow removal, cleaning supplies, light bulbs, etc.) as well as the occasional major repairs needed. Recently, as you might be aware, the water line from the main line in the street to our church, convent and school buildings cracked. The repair of that line was the responsibility of the parish. The initial deposit for work was $ 5, (A final bill is pending.) Our last Maintenance Collection totaled: $ 1, Deficits in our income are taken from parish savings. (These funds are NOT unlimited!) We all treasure Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Let each of us do our part to maintain and pass on this treasure to another generation. Rosary Society News Each year the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Rosary Society awards a $ scholarship to an eighth grade student who is a member of OLMC Parish and will be attending a Catholic High School in September. The award is based on the highest entrance exam score. If interested, please forward your name, telephone number and test scores to the Parish Rectory, Attention: Mary Ann Decha by March 22. Special Mass for Pope Benedict XVI Archbishop John J. Myers will celebrate the Noon Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart next Sunday, March 3, for Pope Benedict XVI upon his resignation, and for the College of Cardinals as, in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, they prepare to gather in Conclave to elect a new Pope. All are welcome to attend!

5 Year of Faith Again this Lent, we will have Themed preaching for 3 Sundays at the English Masses. We will examine the faith of 3 great saints that have influenced the Church. March 3- St. Casimir, Polish Prince (Feast day March 4) March 10 - St. Patrick, Bishop (Feast day March 17.) March 17 - St. Joseph, Spouse of Mary (Feast day March 19) On Feb. 11th, our Holy Father announced his resignation of his position as Pope. This resignation will be effective, Feb. 28th at 2:00 PM EST. To show his gratitude to Pope Benedict for his faithful service to the Church, we will celebrate a special Mass on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 12:00 Noon.( 2 hours before his resignation goes into effect.) Please try to attend this Mass and pray for Pope Benedict s intentions. Nasza parafia ma wyznaczoną kontrybucję w wysokości $ 40, Jeżeli chcesz możesz uczynić zobowiązanie, bliższe informacje znajdują się w ławkach. Jego słuchajcie Czas Wielkiego Postu to nie tylko czas odkrywania wartości wyrzeczenia, doskonalenia siły woli, sięgania po wartości wyższe rezygnując z niższych. Czas Wielkiego Postu to czas intensywnego doskonalenia modlitwy, czyli osobistego kontaktu z Bogiem. Nie chodzi o zwiększenie liczby pacierzy, lecz o usłyszenie przemawiającego Boga. Istnieje bowiem zasadnicza różnica między pacierzem a modlitwą. W pacierzu człowiek mówi, a Bóg słucha, a w modlitwie Bóg mówi, a człowiek słucha. Wielu chrześcijan uczy się jedynie pacierza i na nim poprzestaje, nie podejmując trudu opanowania modlitwy. Mówią do Boga, lecz nie umieją Go słuchać. A przecież w spotkaniu człowieka z Bogiem, Bóg ma znacznie więcej do powiedzenia człowiekowi, niż człowiek Bogu. Ktokolwiek zatem traktuje poważnie spotkanie z Bogiem, nastawia się przede wszystkim na usłyszenie Boga. Bóg przemawia w różny sposób. Oczywiście, czasem na odpowiedź trzeba czekać długo, a bywa, że samo milczenie Boga jest Jego odpowiedzią. Wiemy przecież, że kochające dziecko doskonale rozumie pełne wymowy milczenia ojca czy matki jako odpowiedź na prośbę, jaką do nich zanosi. Podobnie jest i z Bogiem, On lubi odpowiadać milczeniem. Wielki Post to czas słuchania Chrystusa, to czas doskonalenia modlitwy. Może warto podzielić czas swego wieczornego pacierza na dwie części. Pierwszą przeznaczyć na przedstawienie Bogu tego, co dla nas najważniejsze, a w drugiej starać się nastawić na odbiór Bożego słowa. Warto również przynajmniej raz w tygodniu otworzyć Ewangelię i posłuchać, co Chrystus ma mi do powiedzenia. Bo tylko ten dobrze przeżyje czas Wielkiego Postu, kto usłyszy Chrystusa, do kogo dotrze przynajmniej jedno zdanie Zbawiciela. Już samo usłyszenie Boga jest wielkim wydarzeniem w życiu człowieka, nie mówiąc o tym, jak wielkim bogactwem staje się treść Bożego słowa, choćby ono było tak zwięzłe jak wezwanie: Jego słuchajcie. Dostosowanie życia do tego jednego wezwania może je całkowicie przemienić. ( za ks. Edwardem Stankiem)
