Before long, Gator s curiosity and sleuthing abilities find him right in the middle of a secret treasure hunt, trying to unlock a family mystery. The adventure, comedy and drama of Heartstrings make this film a real treasure families can enjoy. The film runs 54 minutes. For more information, call THE CALL TO PRAYER Let us pause to take time out for a few minutes of prayer. The Lord be with you. And also with you. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew: Jesus said to his disciples: You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one as well. If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic, hand over your cloak as well. Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go for two miles. Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow. You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. Reflection Question: What helps me turn the other cheek? Group Discussion or Meditation: Say the Our Father Concluding Prayer: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, faith in your word is the way to wisdom, and to ponder your divine plan is to grow in the truth. Open our eyes to your deeds, our ears to the sound of your call, so that our every act may increase our sharing in the life you have offered us. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are blessed to have a 24 hour Adoration Chapel where many parishes, including ours, noted the blessings or extraordinary occurrences of crime decreasing or as of recent the Eucharistic Miracle in Argentina. Therefore it is unfortunate and sad that we must inform everyone that if we do not enroll, maintain and hold vigilant Our Lord exposed in the Adoration Chapel 24 hours a day, the chapel will need to repose the Blessed Sacrament to the Tabernacle in the Chapel for several hours during the day and night. Nevertheless, the Chapel will remain open. We therefore, as a parish must realize Our Lord cannot be left exposed and alone at any hour. At this point we have 12 open hours where no one is registered to be with Our Lord. The hours are as follows: Sunday - 1:00 AM, 4:00 AM, 7:00 PM, 11:00 PM; Monday - Midnight, 9:00 AM, 12:00 noon, 1:00 PM; Tuesday - 2:00 AM, 4:00 AM, 5:00 AM; Thursday - 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM. In addition, we ask those who do have a committed hour to please uphold and be vigilant about your hour. We gratefully thank you for it, but isn t it all for Our Lord knowing it? Secondly, we acknowledge all faithful adorers who visit the chapel, regretfully we cannot record you for attendance purposes as a registered adorer. There must be a person registered to sign in for each hour. Fr. Robert Barron, a well known scholar on the faith, says our lives must be centered in Christ despite all the turmoil in our world. Wouldn t you agree there is turmoil and isn t it time you checked in with Our Lord regularly? Isn t it needed now more than ever? As always, if you have any questions, or would like to register, change your hour, commit as a group, you can complete a yellow card and drop it in the mailbox attached to the sign-in podium or or call Thank you for your consideration.

6 Page 6 Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time February 20, 2011 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FAMILY MASS FEBRUARY 13, 2011 Annual Catholic Appeal 2011 This week, you are asked to review the Annual Catholic Appeal brochure that you will receive with your bulletin today. The theme of the campaign is: seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33). Please spend some time this week reflecting on the Annual Catholic Appeal. While funding a number of Archdiocesan ministries, the Appeal supports parish ministries that provide religious education to children, youth and adults in economically disadvantaged communities. It is also one of the largest philanthropic sources of financial assistance for Catholic schools in the Archdiocese. Please remember that the Annual Catholic Appeal campaign is much different than a one time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gift payable in installments. As you review the work enabled by your contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal, please reflect on God s gifts to you. He has given you all that you have. Your gifts to our parish, to the Archdiocese and to the work of the Church throughout the world are given in gratitude for the continuing gifts that God gives you. Sometimes it is difficult to envision how one pledge can help an organization the size of our Archdiocese, how it can make a real difference. But each pledge does make a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministries and services. Our combined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they fund a significant portion of the work of our Archdiocese. If you received your pledge form in the mail, please complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend. For those of you that did not receive a mailing or have not had time to respond to it, we will conduct our in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response. The Tommy Finnegan Legacy Foundation would like you to save the date for the Annual Tourney 4 Tommy on Sunday, March 6, at St. Rita High School. The Finnegans are long time parishioners of St. Daniel s Parish. The southside tradition continues; enjoy a day full of fun for the entire family. Doors open at 8:00 AM and the event will end at 5:00 PM. There is no entrance fee, however, there is a $20 registration fee for the basketball or bean bag tournaments. All funds raised go to assisting families with special needs children. Your contribution is tax deductible. For event details and contribution options, visit Jesus instructs us, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. To be a Christian is to love radically, to lover counterculturally, to love as Jesus loved! For more information about the priesthood, contact Fr. Brian Welter at or at
Amen. This prayer is also called a collect because it gathers or collects the prayers of the entire assembly into one. The Roman collects that we pray in our liturgy - noted for the brevity, clarity, and conciseness of the Latin originals - date from a variety of periods. Some are quite new; others reach back more than a thousand years. They are truly treasures of our tradition. The Opening Prayer can be divided into four main parts: 1) the invitation, or Let us pray ; 2) the silence that follows, during which each member of the assembly lifts up before God his or her own prayers; 3) the collect itself, spoken or sung by the priest; 4) and finally the Amen, by which the assembly says, yes, may it be so, making the prayer their own. The collect itself almost always follows the same pattern. It begins with an invocation to God. A petition follows, usually very general. We ask for health, strength, wisdom, grace, forgiveness, faith, awareness. Every collect concludes by offering the prayer to God through Jesus Christ. With the Amen of the assembly, the Introductory Rites of the Mass come to an end. Parish Staff Pastor: Rev. John Noga Associate Pastor: Rev. Michael Flynn Associate Pastor: Rev.
